Re:What does nudism mean to you
Nudism/naturism to me means the freedom of tight clothes and restrictive clothing about my body, to be able to go nude and feel the fresh air and sun on my nude body also to be free to join others with same enjoyment that being nude/naked gives them. Be Nude n Happy
Nudism is comfortable and natural feeling. Not Adonis by any stretch but still am nude at home.
It means I can REALLY be me WITHOUT stress, labels, judgements and others say FREE. Nudists are the nicest people that you will EVER meet. They are so real, comfortable, and confident. I love being a nudist and all my nudist friends. They are my best friends.

In the textile world people can, and do, use clothing as status symbols. As nudists we are ourselves, naturally naked, with none of the labels that clothing attaches to us. I think your use of labels is an important term to use in saying what nudism means to me. Sure, some nudists may still wear expensive watches and other jewelry while otherwise naked and this still is an indication of their status, real or desired. My take is that we're truly nude without any of these trappings, but our own takes on this will vary.
Using the term nudist is also a label, as is naturist. Some people believe these words have different meanings, to me we're all simply naked people. I call myself a nudist because that's what the enlightened people who introduced me to social nudity called themselves. Both terms are just words to me, that describe our enjoyment of experiencing life the best way, naked.
"Nudists are the nicest people that you will EVER meet. They are so real, comfortable, and confident. I love being a nudist...". I have also met some wonderful nudists who are real friends, some other nudists haven't come across as the best people I've met, but that's the same in the textile world, not everyone hits it off with everyone else. I also love being a nudist, mainly because, as you say, the nudists who have become real friends are very 'real, comfortable and confident people'. Whether its in public at somewhere like a beach or in our homes, I really do enjoy socialising in nudist situations far more than textile ones. Obviously because I am in my preferred naked state, but also because times spent with our nudist friends are with people who are so much more confident and open with each other, compared to how I find the clothed world. I visited a couple of nudist clubs this year that were new to me, I got the same feeling at both, lots of happy, open and confident people enjoying social nudity.
For me it is natural: God has sent us like it; if clothes were essential, He would have sent us at birth with it. And also the comfort factor. And the ability to overcome shame or shyness as well as a spiritual feeling as it is a complete form of renunciation.
great question......though many of us in the lifestyle have explained this many times over the years as we "come out" as nudists to friends. TO me, it's a bringing together of many things..... the freedom and comfort of not having an restrictive clothing, that freedom also feeds my mental health and soul---feeling free there. I very much appreciate the person acceptance of those that fully adopt the lifestyle....not just body acceptance, but full acceptance and celebration of humanity and those around us. I appreciate the personalities of nudists-----the vast majority of nudists I've known are just tremendously wonderful, generous, loving people. (very few assholes among the naked lifestyle!)....All of these elements conspire to make life much more happy and celebratory!!! ANd the fact that I spend about 15% of what most people do on laundry, dry cleaning, underwear, etc.....is just buttercream frosting on the cake!!!
I think it is simply more comfortable and more natural. I find that people are more friendly, open and honest when they are naked. It can also really help one's self confidence. Being accepted by others while not hiding anything is great for the esteem.
