Over 35 and in good shape
Gotta be careful. Last topic i started got me lambasted by "true nudists" who feel topics should uphold some sort of nudist standard. Apparently asking about people's different perspectives on circumcision is taboo.
I am 45 and a little flabby around the middle. I see many guys my age who are in beautiful shape and I want to know if it is natural, lots of gyming or diet.
I hate gym but enjoy a bit if cycling but not enough to stay sexy.
Anybody going to make me feel like a schmuck for asking this?
I was a great 70 kg, got married put on 10 kg within months, not one for exercise and moving to a desk job saw the KG climb to 98.
Since I have retired its now back to 80 but would love to loose the next 10 and get back to the wash board stomach again.
Docs quite happy with my weight but I could do with losing a few more cm off the belly, would be more aesthetic.
People are many different shapes and sizes without any specific reason. If one is not grossly overweight, then I see no reason to worry about it, unless you happen to be a fashion model. And, looking at your profile picture, I cannot see you have any problem.
I recently downloaded an iPhone app called MyFitnessPal. I recommend it.
Diet is a four letter word. But just awareness of the simple arithmetic of burn more than you consume is less threatening. What's hard is all the calculations and tracking. Who the heck knows how many calaries are in my favorite beer? This does.
It helps you EASILY create a daily target and long term goal such as 20 lb in 6 months. Then it has an easy and fun way to track everything. It has a bar code reader that connects to a data base of all the details. Tap, zap, done. It even has a search for chain restaurant and fast food items. It was easy and actually fun.
Give it a try. Remember. Sit ups and crunches only strengthen the muscle under the belly fat.
That said, I still gotta get in the habit of more exercise.

I'd like to hear from anybody with an opinion! Those that manage to look good naked at 40and those that struggle (like me)

Sounds handy! Do you think it would work outside USA wrt bar codes etc?
One thing to watch out for is chair time. There's good evidence that the more time you sit, the worse shape you're in, even if you also get lots of exercise - you're probably better off walking to the gym and then turning around and walking home, than you are driving there, exercising furiously, driving home, and spending the time you "save" in front of a screen. Of course, if you have a job that makes you sit, that sets up a difficult problem. I left a desk job for farming when I was 50, and was in the best shape of my life in my mid-50's. When I lived in the city, I had a tendency to put on weight; now - and this is partly how my body is aging, partly lifestyle - my weight has a tendency to drift down.
Another thing to watch out for is diet quality. It is nearly impossible to eat well without cooking from scratch - restaurant and prepared food, even the "health" and "diet" stuff, is pretty bad, because it's all engineered to sell itself to you, with sugar, fat, salt, soft texture, and dubious claims. Cooking from basic ingredients, consistently, resets your tastes. No time to cook? Look again at the time you spend at the wheel - including driving to restaurants - or in front of a screen. You don't need to execute dinner-party recipes from the lifestyle section; fruits and veggies are good raw, or cook in minutes, most grains in half an hour or under, meats in minutes, an omelette in under a minute.
