Some Old Stories
I have a file on my desktop at work called The Compendium of Debauchery - I used to tell the same old stories to people all the time so I compiled them into an easy C&P resource. I've not used it for years, but I guess some of the episodes fit under the subject of Daring Nudists, here's one for starters that I called:
The Trafalgar Square Incident
I think that this occurred in the summer of 1993, which was my second Golden Summer. My first wife had left in the January before, and I was living in our 3 bedroom flat with a couple of mates.
The first Golden Summer that I enjoyed was in 1986, when I left college, I was 18, but before I started work. I had tons of money somehow and spent my lunchtimes in the pub, my afternoons in the bookies, home for tea and out again in the evening. It was a glorious long, hot summer before the onset of responsibility and full time employment. There are many many stories from that year but this isn't one of them............
At some point in the second Golden Summer, probably July or August because it was a sweltering hot day, my mate Nic and his girlfriend Lizzie had come to stay at the flat and we had all gone out to meet some of our other mates in a pub in central London. I was dressed in a plain grey T-shirt, very tight, very short denim cut downs and my traditional nubuck boots. For some reason a lot of people thought I was gay in those days whereas in fact I was just a tease.
Anyhoo we all went to the pub and then when it closed we found on of those old squares behind Oxford Street with secluded gardens in the middle and sat down and had a little smoke. Before we knew it, it was about half past one so we said our goodbyes to our mates and me, Lizzie and Nic made our way back to Trafalgar Square to catch a Night Bus.
It was still exceedingly warm, and the square was buzzing, there must have been about a thousand people hanging out at the fountains and around and about. It was such a good and happy vibe and we were all really buzzing that we decided to hang out for a bit. There was a group of people at the top of one of the fountains in full Rocky Horror gear, Basques and stockings and whatnot, so we wandered over there. We sat by the side of the fountain and I said to no one in particular that I would love to go for a swim. Lizzie said 'I dare you to swim naked'.
Oh dear.
I sat with my back to the pool and took off my boots. Then I took off my T-shirt too. When I was confident that there were no Police in the immediate vicinity I slipped my shorts off and fell gently back into the fountain. I sculled across to the middle on my back making it perfectly clear to everyone that I was naked. Everyone around the edge started cheering, as did the Rocky Horror fans in the middle. I then flipped over and did a quick lap of breaststroke. At the end I stood up to take the acclamation of quite a substantial crowd that had come to view.
Then a couple of girls got in to congratulate me, I tried to persuade them to join me skinny-dipping but they demurred. Another, extraordinarily attractive German girl waded in to have her photo taken with me. There were two groups of Japanese tourists who wouldn't get in but stood at the edge with me between them. Flashes were going off everywhere. Tourists from all over the world have photographs of me naked in the fountains in Trafalgar Square. The photos are probably on the Internet somewhere.
So once all the fuss had died down I had the problem of how to get dry. The two girls who first came into the fountain offered to assist. They helped me into my shorts, which were soaking and took me to Burger King to get dry. They took me into the ladies toilets. One of them dried my T-shirt and shorts under the hand drier while the other helped towel me down. It was quite marvellous. They were a couple of students on a summer school and staying at UCL or somewhere in the unused student accommodation and they both invited me to stay that night. They also invited me to a party there that weekend.
Unfortunately I had to go and find Nic and Lizzie, as they didn't know how to get back to my flat without me. The girls couldn't come with me either as they had an early start or something. I took their number, but because my shorts weren't completely dry the paper it was written on was unreadable in the morning - so I never saw them again.............
I'll transcribe some more soon if people want to read them...
