The deep freeze.....
Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) had its coldest night last week since 2004 (21deg C)night time temps fell to a cold 18 deg C, causing major health problems with the young and elderly who are not used to such cold Temps.
Health issues suffered are mainly respiratory illnesses ( such as pneumonia) and Arthritis issues especially with the elderly.
My first hand experience is my MIL who has been on deaths door a couple of these last few weeks.
Those requiring hospitalization from such problems is putting a real stress on the health system.
So we feel for those of you suffering much lower temps
Great opportunity for some folks to make those nude snow angels they keep talking about! Just dont linger out in the sub zero temperatures too long. Frostbite takes all the fun out of it.
We don't need this kind of cold to make nude snow angels, need snow. Here in southern Okla. yesterday had a low of 4 with wind chill of -7 but only got a dusting of snow which blew off somewhere else.
It was -40C with the wind last night here. That equals -40F.
Toronto's Pearson airport cancelled incoming flights earlier this morning , "as officials said the extreme cold was freezing some equipment and making it unsafe for employees to work." I believe over 200 incoming flights were affected. The ban was lifted at 10am EST.
You know the cost of heating fuel is going to go up with the increased demand. Have you raised your thermostat in the cold?
Yea,kinda debunks the global warming myth!
Actually, their latest explanation that I just heard is that the warm air (From global warming) at the North pole is pushing the cold air away from the pole towards North America. They will never give up the fight, regardless of the historical facts that this is nothing more than a normal cycle. There are already indications that the global temperature is on a downward trend now, and that the earth is once again cooling.
Having said that, I'm all for less pollution, but we need to be smart about it, and not destroy our economy in the process.
