A little help

Ok I've read the suntan lotion and sunscreen questions but have yet seen anything on insect repellent. Is it safe to use them on the genatal areas? If they are, which are safer for thoughs areas?

RE: A little help

I've gotten some OFF down there by accident when dealing with mosquitos in the back yard, and I'll tell you straight out...you don't want to. I shave that area, and it burned like hell.

RE: A little help

I have found Avon Skin So Soft to be an effective insect repellant. I too shave my pubic area, however I wouldn't apply it there. If you accidentally get some there, I don't know.

Should be safe but I would avoid using near any mucous membrane.

The first thing I would look for is the presence of alcohol in the ingredients. That is one thing that I know burns. Ouch!

Oil, such as baby oil, is great for keeping insects away. I discovered this years ago as it will also keep ticks that have gotten on you from biting. Baby oil has to be gentle, it is for babies. LOL

RE: Oil...

Any type of oil works. The Native American Indians used animal oil, such as from the Buffalo, But Penzzoil or Castrol GTX 10-w-30 works okay too. It just makes you slippery.
Hey Dog,
After reading your suggestion that motor oil be used as insect repellent, I cant help but wonder if your club pool doesnt look like the Exxon Valdez may have docked there. LOL

RE: Oil...

I've managed to smuggle some 100% DEET in from Canada.
A drop ( literally a drop ) in my hair ( on my head ) and/or two drops spread over my entire wet body when coming OUT of the pool, and I'm good to go. Doesn't burn, doesn't itch, WORKS, and one drop over an entire body is less concentration that is legal in OFF.
I suppose you dilute OFF to a low concentration to the same affect.

Baby oil is just mineral oil with fragrance. I would love to be able to find it without the smell. In qt size, preferable. Any ideas?

You might ask your pharmacist. "Baby" oil - is like deep frying IMHO. Someone once asked - how do they press the babies to get the oil. It's sick, but got a smile out of the person I was with.
