What are chat Forums for ?
I am truly astounded that benign discussions about use of the main chat function are banned with out warning.
I made a comment re the non allowance of using the external link format used by a couple of members today and who were warned by Jere Sandy, when I queried the function and suggested that if the function is not allowed then it should be removed ..Jere then took the liberty to post that the item was not up for debate and blocked me when I queried the reason
I Feel that his action was a total abuse of power.
However I will enjoy the break, cheers all Take care and enjoy being bare
The Chatroom service is provided by a third party - 123 - and in all likelihood, they will have their service licensed, to other rooms where use of the link is allowed.
Chat is different to Forums. Here in Forums we are pretty much left to debate the wrongs and rights of many subjects, one of those being the Chatroom and its moderation.Whilst I agree with the OP's sentiments, I can see that unwanted discussion in the chatroom of the link function would probably not be wise - TT1 has probably mandated against it and the ChatMods are following his request.
Good points all but there seems to be a general lack of courtesy and benefit of the doubt to otherwise good members. Simply stated, we are the customer. Should we be treated rudely? We are also the "product" that TT sells. Members are the content. Our interactions, pictures, posts and chat. Its the product TT sells. Computer functionality without our participation has no value.
So mods, thank you for your service in helping keep this site legitimate. But PLEASE be kind and courteous. Treat us as the important customers we are.
I'm not sure about the policy of external links on this site, but on another where I am a mod, I know they are banned for a few reasons. The main one being that you can make a link look like anything. If someone posts a link that seems to advertise cheep nudist holidays, but when you click on it, it could take you anywhere on the net.
What if a seemingly harmless link took you to images of child pornography, it wouldn't be your fault, but try explaining that in court.
