What Got Everyone Into Paganism?
I have always been curious about magic and such(stay with me here). I have gone to church, to quite a few different denominations, and never felt quite comfortable. I did not embrace until I was in college, right after I left the Mormon religion. Just had a journey to take to get to where I am.
when i was young we bounced around between churches. unable to cope with the inconsistancies between them i read the bible from cover to cover. then i read two more versions. after that i knew ony that christianity was not real but felt something had to be. at 14 i started researching all religions. i havent stopped since. its been 20 years now i have been learning. paganism/wicca seemed to make sense to me. i've joined up with others who study and continue to learn to this day.
For me it was simple. First I was raised southern Baptist and was profoundly disappointed in the fact they wanted me to say that all the good that happened in my life was do to this God! Not that I had done all the tough work. But you dare blame him equally for the bad that happens. So I looked around and had a friend or two who practiced Wicca. They were for the most part happy and loving life. I started looking around and was for the longest time lost as to what to look at or even consider.
One day it just dawned on me that I should look to my heritage and see what my ancestors believed in ancient times. hat lead me to follow the Celts and the Norse which I have found have similar basic constructs of their beliefs. I am of Celtic/Norse heritage and it seemed very natural for me and so here I am. A Celtic Norsewoman in Tucson Az.
Basically 11 years in the Catholic school system and learning about there, and other organised religions, brutality against those who chose the ancient beliefs of the natural world. I was a young 16yo male who decided that my Celtic ancestors new better and far more than than the Fairy story tellers from mans modern idea of religious beliefs.
