New York Athletic Club, 1980's

I lived on Manhattan in the 80's. A colleague belonged to the all-male NYAC and we play basketball, lift, nude swim and steam/sauna after work there. Being all-male, the pool was nude, locker rooms relaxed nude, steam and sauna, of course same. We'd have breakfast on pool deck, in robes or nude, while guys did their laps nude. Ya just walked from lockers to pool to breakfast nude -- so GREAT!!! it was so wonderful, magical even.
NYAC went co-ed - which is GREAT for nudists in Europe, but LOUSY for nudists in prude-USA. In USA, when co-ed, everyone buttons up, repressed and dressed. LOL REALLY sad to lose such a GREAT gym to prudish nonsense!
May the cycles turn quickly and return us soon to sanity and nudity!

We (Buffalo, NY) had a club in the '80's ... it wasn't all unisex, but they had one day a week that was all maleand oneall female. On those days, it was clothing optional around the pool, locker room and juice bar. Not generally in the weights area. Still, nothing like that any more.

Are there ANY nude-friendly men's health clubs today?I suspect if there are any, they will be soon gone. Seems there will always be guys trying to get away with the kind of behavior that will cause many to not come there anymore.

So sad to hear about so many gyms changing. One I go to is the same way. They plan to close the one that has a sauna in the men's locker room. The new gym is to have just one sauna for both men and women to use. No nudity. Can not even go into it with a just a towel around you like most guys do. There are still others around to go to but have to drive further. I sure hope this trend turns around soon.
