Guests in your house
I'm barefoot at home year round. No surprise there. I've noticed that some of my shod friends are uncomfortable at my place. Some remove their shoes but look uncomfortable and some keep their shoes and look uncomfortable. I'd certainly prefer that everyone remove their shoes at the door, but that isn't the custom here (in US). I don't want to wear shoes in my own house just because my friend prefers shoes.
How have you dealt with shoe loving friends?
Not wishing to sound inconsiderate but I am at the stage where I am no longer concerned as I feel at the end of the day it is not an issue when friends are togther. Yes I would prefer they "lost" the footwear and indeed more now do, but there is that old adage that says, those that care don't matter and those that matter don't care.

Ken, you could have a shoe rack by the front door asking all that enter your home to place their shoes on it. You may just want to say that you rather not have anyone walking on your carpet with shoes on. Like many Koreans, they do not walk around their home with shoes on but leave them by the front door. Some just outside the home on the porch or just after entering the home. Like at Spa World, which is a Korean spa in Virginia, all have to take their shoes off in the lobby and place them in a shoe locker.
I'm happy to be barefoot but it seems like me being barefoot makes some of my friends have issues with their shoes. I hate for my guests to be uncomfortable, so I've tried all sorts of ways to encourage them to leave their shoes on or remove them, as they please. Doesn't seem to work and I'm not sure why.
