2010 The AANR World Record
Plans are already being formulated for the 2010 The AANR World Record Skinny-Dip. July 10 has been announced for this years skinny dip. Details can be found by Googling AANR. Last year the official count across the nation was 13,648 participants. In the wake of all the positive publicity which resulted from last years event, Im sure 2010 will set a new record.
Its not too early for for nudists active in their clubs to begin planning for this years record dip, particularly members of clubs which did not participate last year.
On July 11, 2009, I was included in the official count at the Whispering Pines Nudist Resort in Sunset Beach, NC. Management and volunteers did a wonderful job of making it a very enjoyable day for all who attended. Everything was well organized from parking through registration. The pre and post publicity was excellent and very positive. Newspapers and local TV stations all gave good reports.
If there was any flaw in the program, it was not totally clear that grounds fees would not be charged to those who were there for the Skinny Dip. I was prepared to pay, if asked. Im sure that if more people knew that admission was free, even more would have been there.
I have stated elsewhere that I feel that the Record Skinny Dip has given nudism the most positive publicity which I have seen in my many years as a nudist. Its also a fun event and I encourage all to participate this year
Be sure to keep us up to date on locations and such.
I was included in the ones at Hippie Hollow last year. If it goes that same as last year, there will be a page on AANR website that lists locations. There was also information about getting a location added if it is not listed already.
This event might win over more converts to nudism.
I agree. If this year's event generates the type of positive publicity that it did last year, many will see skinny dipping as innocent fun and be tempted to try it themselves. Even my most conservative friends and neighbors who know of my participation, last year, view it as a little naughty, nothing worse. Some said they would like to have been there.
Many of the uninformed have had negative perceptions of nudism throughout the years. Immoral, cultish, shameful, voyeuristic and exhibitionistic are some of the erroneous misconceptions held by many. A nationwide skinny dip is probably the best way to bring nudism to mainstream America
Screw it. They don't count 99% of the nude beaches, and only care about resorts.
That is what I said last year, then when I got to my favorite nude beach I found out it would be included. I think it is a good promotion, but I still will not become a member of AANR due to the response I got from them last year. I also got a snide response when the information was posted here in forum last year from a resort owner that it was only including legal nude beaches, which the beach I mentioned is legal.
You've never drawn a line in the sand
Sand, yes. Water, no. How far out from the waterline is the limit? Who stands on the lines with surveyor's transits to ascertain that person X is within the boundaries? Is a person on the line considered in or out? Who verifies that every person within the limits is nude?
Guesswork doesn't count in establishing Guiness records.
All who participated signed in. I assisted with signing people up. There were a lot of people who were interested in participating till they found out their name would be on a list. The people not participating simply got out of the water before the picture was taken
