On Feb. 2, 2014, New York, Mayor Bill de Blasio dropped Staten Island Chuck while handling the groundhog. Chuck, who was actually Charlotte, was found dead in her enclosure at Staten Island Zoo on Feb. 9. A New York Post report Sept. 25, said the zoo performed a necropsy and found the groundhog had died from "acute internal injuries" consistent with a fall.
