Restricting viewing to photos
Can you all help me with your views. I am a fairly new Nudist and I do not have a problem with people seeing me naked. If they are fellow nudist's its not so nervious lol. I'm not affraid to show my photo's in here. So my questions is: Is there any point / advantage to restricting access of my photo's to friends or other True Nudists?.
Some people would rather their boss, clergyman, relatives, etc., not stumble upon their photos on a nudist site through an innocent Google search. By limiting access, there's less of a chance that the cat will get out of the bag, so to speak. Then again, just posting to forum will put your smaller picture in Google's web.
Now if none of that is a concern for you, then you don't have to use those options. But some do have legitimate concerns, and I can understand that.
It's common to restrict photo viewing to certified members only (the True Nudists option). As for accidental discovery, several considerations make it improbable. Unless a person uses his real name as a username, there is nothing to tie a TN account to that person's name. Unless a person posts his email address on the site, the address won't be linked to it. A common practice is to use a Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail address that is used nowhere else. The filenames of the photos on TN are all encrypted with a 32-character hexadecimal number such as 0123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef.jpg. This erases any personal identification from the photos that might be in the filename, e.g., Mary And Joe At Nude Beach.jpg. Similarly, all EXIF (EXchangeable Image File format) data is stripped from the photos, thus eliminating camera information and other data from the files. The only pics that Google stores are the "avatars" that one sees in forum and group posts, which are too small, ergo too low a resolution, for identification unless it's a closeup of a face. True Nudists is not a household name. The chances are that anyone looking around in TN found the site by deliberately searching for nudist topics. That doesn't qualify as accidental discovery. In view of those factors, your pastor or boss accidentally discovering your sunclad body here is a non-issue. It's not impossible, but it's highly unlikely. It is of course the member's choice as to how to restrict access to the pics.
hmmm
and what if my pastor is a nudist?
kidding.
Good post ( and correct one if i may ) NudinMa.

I restrict just my nude shots to friends only, because of the very remote possibility of a Google search turning up a naked photo of me. I picked a user name that is far from my real name. I once Googled "catbird" and my profile showed up on page 47 of the search results. Who would have the patience to scroll through 47 pages of Google search results?
It is up to you whether that possibility bothers you.

Mine wound up on page two at least once. Someone else wrote to me to say I was on page ONE of their search. Other times I had to look quite a bit to find. I guess it depends on Google's mood.
Once I was doing search for my username since I use it elsewhere as well. True Nudists came to the top of the list. That's when I decided my profile pic would have to be for friends only. However, I posted the same pic a second time on my page, so anyone can see me whether they are my friend or not. For a GOOD look, they at least have to log in as a member of TN.

I tried a search for NudeInMa on Google. Your profile came to the top of the list. I then clicked on "Images". I saw everyone, including myself, Linda, Cheri and many more.
Nope, there's no hiding!

Thebulk of our photos are designated for TN certifieds and/or friends only because we're not here to share our pics with everyone. Just those we've gotten to know. Before the "right-click" protection was initiated on this site, I actually had one person (who I met in chat)admit that they liked one of ourpics so much that they had copied it.He was not on our friends list. From that point forward we restricted the majority of our pics.As a matter of fact that person became a probelm in the chat room, was flagged by many, removed from the site and then returned under a different name just to harass me, whence he was removed again.
Our prior screenname (along with images) was also showing up as the first entry on a google search. We, personally, may be nudists but we're not exhibitionists and I don't care for just any one to have access to our photos. We don't carry around ourpictures and show them to any Tom, Dick, Harry, Jane or Mary webump into on the street, why would we let people we know absolutely nothing about have access to them?
As wonderful as this site is (and I am a very loyal member of it), not everyone who joins or views all the pages that are open to any one not logged in are nudists.
That's my 2 cents.

Not to kid. Sometimes one's pastor is a nudist ...in which case the person in question might have his or her own reasons (personal, professional) for restrictions to whatone maysee.
