RE: Black's Beach!

It sounds as though this route is much like the route we took down and back up from the nude beach at San Onofre State Beach. It was a service road for the rangers and lifeguards. It's not so much the climb as it is the narrow path, in some areas, of the trail from the Glider Port that scares my wife. If she can make it up that trail, she'll have no problem with the paved road and she'll be happier, much happier when we get to the car! hahahahahaMy wife was the same way. As long as she has the stamina to make the climb, she'll be fine. Parking in this area is all on residential streets in one of the wealthiest areas of La Jolla and there are a lot of restrictions. Follow the rules and you should enjoy the day.

RE: Black's Beach!

I visited Black's Beach the summer when I was exploring California. After "the hike" for some reason I no longer have any desire to trek in the Grand Canyon. Living in the East, we get spoiled when it comes to beaches. The land is at sea level. So the parking lots/beach access is just a quick walk. The Atlantic is much warmer in summer then the Pacific. Cold water is not a nudist's friend!

RE: Black's Beach!

I diss agree. the water at Black's is fine. I have swam nearly every time I have been there including a swim the weekend before thanksgiving last year and one this past February. February was too cold to stay in for longer than a few minutes but the air temp and the atmosphere more than made up for it.
