There are 4 ways to access the Blacks Beach. At low tide you
can walk from Torrey Pines State Beach south to Blacks. There are two trails
that go down the cliffs. There is the glider port trail which has been worked
allot but is showing some signs of wear. The other trail is in the far north of
the parking lot and is steeper and slipperier but to me easier if you just
makes some stops on the way up with water. There is a road at the south end
that the lifeguards use that is paved and you have to park in a residential
area. Once on the beach you will need to walk a half mile north to the nudist beach
section marked by orange cones.

This might be an alternate route that would suit my wife more. She likes going to the beach and being nude but that Glider Port Trail scares the heck outta her. When we visited San Onofre, Trail 6, we had a long walk there from the parking lot to the nude section and she was fine with that. Maybe the Lifeguard road will be the way to go for her. Thanks for the info.
:D
We primarily used the paved emergency vehicle access route. It was solid footing all the way down. It was then easy walking to the nude beach but when there was a landslide we were blocked at high tide. Eventually the slide washed out and the walk became easy again. Walking back up the road, however, was still a rough climb. You still have to be in fairly good condition to make the walk back up. Be advised of this fact if you plan to use this route.
It sounds as though this route is much like the route we took down and back up from the nude beach at San Onofre State Beach. It was a service road for the rangers and lifeguards. It's not so much the climb as it is the narrow path, in some areas, of the trail from the Glider Port that scares my wife. If she can make it up that trail, she'll have no problem with the paved road and she'll be happier, much happier when we get to the car! hahahahaha

My wife was the same way. As long as she has the stamina to make the climb, she'll be fine. Parking in this area is all on residential streets in one of the wealthiest areas of La Jolla and there are a lot of restrictions. Follow the rules and you should enjoy the day.
I visited Black's Beach the summer when I was exploring California. After "the hike" for some reason I no longer have any desire to trek in the Grand Canyon. Living in the East, we get spoiled when it comes to beaches. The land is at sea level. So the parking lots/beach access is just a quick walk. The Atlantic is much warmer in summer then the Pacific. Cold water is not a nudist's friend!
I diss agree. the water at Black's is fine. I have swam nearly every time I have been there including a swim the weekend before thanksgiving last year and one this past February. February was too cold to stay in for longer than a few minutes but the air temp and the atmosphere more than made up for it.
