RE: Any Idea why Straight Men find Nudity Repulsive?

"time to get rid of these tired old stereotypes , at the end of the day if you think someone looks good just let them know"agree on both counts. no longer care if others misjudge me. So much more comfortable.personally it seems to me that it is time we spoke of male or female and simply leave it at that. I thin the greater majority of males and females are bi.

RE: Any Idea why Straight Men find Nudity Repulsive?

I see that the conversation drifted from the original post and now
returned. Interesting. I see the point about straight men being
fearful of finding a male body attractive but I think that part of
the problem is the way the West has coopted nudity as strictly
sexual and we have bought into the commodity model. We are very
insecure and we don't like it if someone else is comfortable in
their own skin. Beautiful naked men are vehicles to sell stuff. If
I don't measure up to the standard seen in adverts I should be
covered in a gunny sack, and then so should everybody else. This isn't unique to straight men, BTW. I have
heard many gay men argue that saggy old dudes such as myself should quit
going naked too (it hurts their eyes, I suppose because they have
to face that their sculpted beauty is not forever). Buying into
consumer culture has a range of ills and I think that guys
acknowledging each others' bodies as they are is one of them.

Yes sorry Alfresco , I'm sorry I might have been one of the people responsible for making the conversation drift a bit,You make a lot of valid points , Especially the fact that Many Men on the gay scene have serious issues regardingtheir body image, Guys go to the gym and work out and still don't feel that they're Muscular enough, I have friends whodo this, , sadly this is now something that a lot of straight guys are now doing , It's terrible sad that some men don'tfeel good about their bodies .The point I would have to take issue with is that you mention men on the gay scene seeing your body as " saggy " or"old " going by your profile pics you have a great body and you should take every opportunity to be naked because you look fantastic

To me it is extremely odd. Unless the person is way out of shape or something that looks very bad, I don't understand why so many men are repulsed by male nudity. On the other hand, some people I guess could simply be repulsed by the human body. I don't know. Also are there any straight men who appreciate the beauty of male nudity? There is a nice picture for this group. It is quite attractive. I don't find it sexually attractive. I just like it. I live in a society where men claim they can't tell (as if they are blind) if a person of the same gender is attractive or not. I mean men here. Females comment on each other's beauty all the time. But going beyond that, being nudists (If you've ever spent a lot of time nude and you are straight) do you "notice," "appreciate," find "attractive," or however you would describe it--the male form? Someone had to pick the picture for this discussion group. I don't assume it had to be a gay person. If straight, that picture appealed to that person for some particular reason.Since I'm not completely straight, I find this really hard to understand the various responses people give on the topic. My feelings are obviously different.Does anyone have anything to share about this? It would be helpful to discuss it. I understand that this group being a bunch of nudists are sometimes in the same boat in that they accept nudity and wonder why people don't feel more comfortable. Either way, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Well, I like being naked and like seeing others being naked. I think the biggest reason some guys are that way are the way they were brought up, especially the ones that are raised by mom. If I had my way it would be required to be naked, weather permitting. I am already striping when I go threw the door at the locker room at the guy and only carry a small towel to sit on. Some of the older guys do the same. I think they call us trolls, but that has nothing to do with it, I makes me feel good to have others take a good look, even though I know that I don't really look that good anymore. I was raised very prudishly and it took a while to get over it. There have been several occasions where people have asked to see mine, and I say sure if I can see yours. I have no hang ups about it in the last 45 years, I have even had a couple to want to touch it, and that's ok with me too. Maybe I am over permissive but I just feel we are all made the same just different shapes and sizes, so what does it matter. People don't realize how much baggage they are carrying around with the fears of someone seeing them, once they get the guts to try it they usually like me and don't want to put clothes back on. Some guys few they might get an erection seeing a beautiful male body. It is unlikely but would that really matter?

"Any Idea why Straight Men find Nudity Repulsive?"
My theory is that much of it has to do with homophobia. They don't want to be an object of desire to another man; they are afraid that if they are an object of sexual desire to another man, that somehow means that something about them reads "gay" and since they perceive "gay" to be a bad thing, deviant or abnormal, that means they're deviant or abnormal.
