Planning for July 2015
Colllin's Beach on Sauvie Island is a nice beach, although it can be hard to find if you have never been there before. The beach area is not that far of a walk from where you park. I mysefl have a preference fo9r the area around entrance 5.
Rooster Rock State Park has a pretty large clothing optional area.. You'd need to go to the far east end of hte parking lot, and th etrail leading tot he clothing optional area is to the left of the restrooms. The clothing optional area sarts at the bottom of the hill, and goes to the East end of the park, and includes Sand Island. Easrlier in the Seasopn when the water levels are still high, you really have to hunt for a p0lc to lay out, and you might have to hike for a nile on the trail before cutting over to the river to avoid muddy and swampy areas early in the season. But the nd of August most trails and areas have dried out. They do have soem trails to hike in the clothing optional area.
You may also want to check out the Mountaindale Sun Resort. in North Plains, which is about half an hour West of Portland. They are an AANR club. They have some hiking trails which I like to hike on before spendign the rest of the day aroudn the pool. Cost is $15 for the day or $12 if you are an AANR member..They closed their snack bar, so you need to bring your own food.
There is also Common Grounds which just has a jacuzzi, sauna and showers. They are coed and clothing optional and charge by the half hour. One hour costs abotu the same as all day at M0ountaindale, but if it is a rainy day, it might be nice for you to check out. You have to make reservations, as they have a limited capacity and are pretty popular.
