I think a resort is best for first time because you are among like minded people beaches can be a mixed bag. WIth places like Haulover where naturists actively police the beach being the exception
I second this also. I don't recommend an unofficial nude beach for your first time out meeting people. Maybe finding a mentor (or a few) to go with. You will be with like minded people that can guide you on your first time and make you feel comfortable and safe.
At a nude beach you have the choice of talking to others or not. If you choose not to engage others no one will think anything of it. You're just someone enjoying a quiet time by themselves on the beach. There have been several times i have gone ot the beach without engaging others. You have complete control over how much you engage with others.
On the other hand at a nude social event, if you chose to sit in a corner by yourself and read people would think you're strange. At a resort or social event there would be more pressure to mingle and talk to people.
I think a resort would be better. Ive gotten a few females friends into nudism by inviting them to nudist events. In two instances they never even thought about nudism now there hooked. In our neck of the woods the beach is a good distance away so resorts and parties are easier to find.
