I love wearing my kilts but they can be heavy and sometimes feel like I'm carrying way too much fabric. Two thoughts:
I have two of the aforementioned "running kilts" from runningkilts.com. They are not made in the way of the traditional pleated kilt but are more like open bottom running shorts or (horror!) a flat skirt. LOL. They are great for running and hiking though as they are *very* lightweight. I have hiked quite a few miles in mine and roll them up under my backpack waist belt for something very close to the full naked hiking experience. If you encounter other hikers and feel the need to cover up, simply and quickly pull it back down. There is a pic in my profile where I am hiking exactly like that.
Having said all of that, I am partial to utkilts.com for a more traditional kilt design at a sane price point. I have several from them in both utility and tartan designs. They recently came out with a lightweight ripstop fabric version that I cant wait to try. Gonna order one soon and when I get it I will post something in the group about it. Based on the other products I have from them my expectations are high for this one too.
I have a light-weight kilt from Kilted Bros and I love it. Here's the website:https://kiltedbros.com/modern-kilts/rrrip/
Thanks for posting that link. The other Kilted Bros links didn't really get me anywhere. Nice pics and videos of the um...product - HaHa. The rrip looks like a must have and I like that they have a shorter length drop for short legs like mine.
