I remember when, as a kid, our YMCA transitioned to suits required in the pool. WOMEN had invaded the YMCA. We protested by taking off the suits while we had open swim times. The men tried to hang on to the tradition as long as possible as well. Of course it was a losing battle. Now we face the requirements of clothing in the Steam and Sauna, Whirlpool if single gender should also be nude. You can guess who no longer had a YMCA membership. Pity as it was one of my favorite experiences as a kid.
I'm a member of the Brooks YMCA in Jacksonville, FL and we have to wear a swim suit in the whirlpool and sauna. A lot of guys wear boxer briefs and once in a while a guy will wear just a towel in the whirlpool, but the daytime locker room attendant will threaten to have you thrown out if you don't wear a swim suit. He also gets after any guys wearing just a towel in the sauna, but most just ignore him. There is some nudity in the locker room, but I often get funny looks walking naked between the locker area and the showers naked. They are in different rooms across the hall from each otherand most guys wear at least a towel, but a few of us go naked which should be normal!
I believe that nudity should be allowed in the locker rooms at health clubs. We are all men, so there should be no problem. At the Y I go to as you enter the locker room there is a sign having rules for behavior in the room. One rule is to not be nude except in the shower area. They had separate rooms for adults and youth. They may have changed that, but I never have seen a youth in the men's locker room. I have seen a few men naked by the locker. I haven't tried it. Don't want to cause any trouble. All that is needed is for one person to complain. There is a sauna at the Y in the swimming pool area, but it's co-ed so no nudity in it.
Now at the Planet Fitness I go to, has individual changing rooms if you want them. I wasn't sure what they were at first. A nice size room with a chair and a door. I wondered what they were for. Then I realized they were for changing clothes privately. So far I haven't seen any one use them, but then, I haven't seen any one completely change clothes either. In the 4+ years I have been going there I've only seen one other guy nude. He came from the shower area. Individual stales. I do get naked at PF. Changing from street clothes to my work out clothes, then back again.
The other gym I go to, most guys do get nude in the locker room. It's more free. Guys aren't as up tight about being nude. This gym does have a hot tub and a sauna in the men's locker room. I only used the hot tub once and did so naked. I've seen other men nude in it as well. There are a few guys that wear something in it. I do go in the sauna after every workout. I wrap a towel around me going to the sauna. When I sit down I open the towel up and use it to sit on only. A lot of other men go naked as well. A few don't sit on a towel, just their bare ass. I prefer to sit on a towel for sanitary reasons. This gym also has a communal shower room with about 7 shower head in one room. It's nice to go from the sauna to the showers with other guys. I enjoy that gym the best as far as that goes. Sometimes I go to PF and then go to the other gym to use the sauna and showers.
Should Adult Locker Room(Health Club section)allow members use Sauna and Whirlpool Nude?? I remember when i first start join men are comfortable walk around nude or doing other things nude like shaving or talking to each other. I believe men would let the guard down at the locker room and comfortable to be around with other men Nude. Any comment??
Should be a general duty to use Health Club sections nude. Also Workout-Area in Gym or Swimming-Pools. Should be a duty to do all physical Things nude. No exception.
