Worst experience ever
I feel obligated to share with you my experience two weeks ago there. I made a whole tour around France, and never expected to feel so bad in Cap D'Adge. Let me start by saying I am a very easy going person. Not problematic at all and always willing to talk and be kind to one another. Cap D'Adge was supposed to be my last destination, and unfortunataly I had to change it after suffering three attacks. I realized it was not a safe place for me or my husband. At this beach bar called Paralia, belonging to camping Oltra, you can buy everything you want (ridiculously expensive)during day hours but at some point of the day you are not allowed to enter the bar anymore if you are a single man, or if you are homosexual. I was refused to access this place a couple of times and even staying at the same camping, I was not allowed to enter because of those two reasons. I was walking one step ahead of my husband, and when I wanted to access this local, this guy walked towards me screaming single men were not allowed to enter so I had to leave, I kindly told him I was not single and introduced my husband who was only one step behind me. At first time he said, okay go on, but after what seemed to be five seconds he pulled us out in a very rude way and nobody seemed to do, care or even say anything, only watching the whole show instead. I couldn't believe we were not allowed to use a service we were actually paying for, since this bar belongs to the camping where we were staying. Those were our first discrimination acts ever and of course we were rather dissapointed.
On the other hand, at the town itself, we went to this pizzeria and while sitting and waiting for our (very poor) meal, we witnessed two attacks from the cheff and who was supposed to be the owner of the bar towards two costumers: a single English man and a German couple. We were already quite dissapointed with the rude and impolite way they were serviced and never expected that we would be the next ones. We were supposed to pay cash and of course we didn't know. There was apparently a very small sign advising us to do so next to the cashier. Well we didn't have cash so, we decided to walk towards the exit to go to a cash machine next door. Our suprise came when the whole crew thought we just wanted to leave without paying and started screaming at us in the restaurant itself, with the rest of the costumers watching the whole show. I am not exagerating, it was literally like that. We couldnt believe our eyes! It was not happening to us in our vacation. They even refused to speak English to give us an explanation of what was happening, so you are there only but a loser. After what seemed the longest few minutes of our lifes, dealing with this crazy mafia guys, we managed to get some cash with a bodyguard who was not other but the cheff, we paid (in our country, we wouldnt even dare to pay after such an scene) and left that horrible restaurant.
My conclusion is that Cap D'Adge is not really a place I would dare to come back in my whole life. There are lots of different and more charming places to visit in France rather than this horrible place, where you are not other but a walker coin. They do not speak your language and will not make an efford to understand you either if you dont speak French. Do not expect it to be a naturist place. It is simply a swinger town, where exhibitionism and voyeurism is its daily meal. Horrible place, really.
I am sorry that you were discriminated against. That was cruel and unjust. Hetero vanilla males can feel threatened for some reason by a gay couple. I have been to CDA many times and it is well known that the camping area is unfriendly to gays. The rest of the resort is more gay friendly and we had multiple bisexual experiences at Historie d' "O". Europe has sucky pizza anyway-try the Kabab.
