Suggestion for wider consideration
Having been a nudist of any usual description for over 40 years, I've never seen or heard of any concerted effort to bring nudism to the wider general public knowledge in a consistent way. Why is this? Much is said about the events and people already proudly living any nudist life and we're now more constantly being told of events such as the 'Wardrobe malfunction/s' taking regular place in the media. Many of us are free to take part in the many Nude Bike Rides happening all over the world, so how is it that those who prefer not to wear clothes, continue to be reluctant to actively make themselves and nudism more commonly known to our present and future generations? For those who may remember the 'PINK POUND' period this was a concerted and supported effort by our gay and lesbian community to resist those adverse comments and treatment by the greater population of many countries to keep their lifestyle in the shadows of knowledge and restrict their activities. Their response was to boycott any establishment or individual who showed such tendancy and ensure they suffered the financial loss of the business or benefits the gay community normally contributed to them.We now accept same sex relationships and have made supporting legislation in response to the demand by the general community as well as the particular groups who support such matters in local affairs. We nudists are now very conspicuous in NOT advocating our chosen lifestyle actively and seem content to remain subject to any trivial comment or event which comes to the notice of the media and authorities generally. Where is our friend,'Steve, aka The Naked Rambler'? Can we have a discussion on the subject of a combined front against what is and will remain our nudist lot, and find worth in coming out of our sunning loungers and comfortable chairs, to keep our lifestyle alive and further these abilities to greater effect than now enjoyed. When we are now striving to build new houses in great numbers, should we include flat roofs arranged and designed for use as nude sunning platforms which are not accessable to those who don't wish to acknowledge the nude next door? We have many expanses of suitable land now cut off from all other uses by roads, rail and canal routes which currently harbour not only risks of crime but those who find secluded hiding places for all sorts of unwanted activities. Why not have working days to clear these areas for use by those who want somewhere to go to be naked, which is only likely to be used during daytime hours and in suitable weather? How is it, that we continue too suffer theft of our infrastructure such as cable thefts from vital rail lines, yet avoid the obvious ability to have these remote and vulnerable places patrolled effectively by those who have a less threatening and greater need of such places. Nothing will change for the better on it's own, we must ensure we don't get squeezed out of our delights by default. Any guesses how long it will be, before our intended migrants abandone their clothes with their pasports and claim they are whoever they like via their nudity? We don't now insist on identification papers from their own countries, and it won't be very long until everyone seeking rescue will also abandon their clothes as a media magnet to official discovery and safe custody. We can, and should, innovate and evolve ourselves so we are able to have some control of our joint futures. To win, we must look ahead and stop mumbling among ourselves. Only those with an interest will listen, we have to get the wider society to acknowledge an interest of their own and which we can support on a wide basis. The floodgates are open, Comments and opinions please.
I agree that it is somewhat lengthy, but if you read his profile 'occupation' the reason appears to be obvious. As a security officer, he views the more seedy side of life on a regular basis and knows what comes with abandonment. His comments are directed toward a concerted effort to convert 'out-of-the-way' places to nudist venues and prevent them from being over-run by vagabonds and vagrants. There are other points in the post, but the crux, I gathered, was to rally the troops and bring about a public acceptance of nudity within these boundaries and gain nudist involvement. Anyone wish to add a line or two? John.
It's really not a bad idea and it provides a focus. A lot of the time, when bringing nudism to the masses is brought up, no specific approach is mentioned.
I like this one because if you got a group of nudists together to clean up the area while dressed it would get some really positive media attention.
