Anyone ever start a conversation with strangers about being a nudist?

I posted a question about something the other day and the topic seemed to change to something else. So a new question came up of; how does one talk about being a nudistto a stranger? How does the topic come up even?. I was surprised people thought it was like a remote topic that never would come up. Being a nudist I would think many things could trigger a conversation about it. I know if I get the chance I will promote it, and tell people I am a nudist. Do most of you feel that way or are you more discreet?

RE: Anyone ever start a conversation with strangers about being a nudist?

I used to wear nudist saying t shirts all the time. Nowadays, I have so many t shirts, I don't wear the nudist t shirts as much but still do frequently. The questions come up occasionally and I get the best response from younger people and rolling eyes or raised eyebrows from most of the people our age. If they ask, I/we will tell them that we are nudists, where we go, what we do but not often does the conversation go that far. We are not shy about telling others we are nudists, we just don't announce it without an opening or opportunity at the opportune time! ;-)
Most younger people recognize my Black's Beach t shirt or my Surf Naked T shirt and ask about it. I'll tell them about Black's or our club and they seem interested to a point. I've had a few older people comment on my Terra Cotta Inn t shirt and say ... "I've been there or I've always wanted to go there."
The longest conversation I've ever had was with a young female barista at Starbucks. She wanted to know everything but there were just too many people in line and she was more interested in our conversation but her manager was giving her the look because she was spending too much time talking with us. I returned and talked to her a bit more. She swears she's going to take friends down to Black's Beach and that she'll see us down there some time. Haven't seen her yet and she moved to another store so I don't see her as much anymore.

While being prepped and shaved forca heart cath procedure a couple years ago, the nurse commented on my all over tan and smooth look. I told her I was a nudist and went to nude beaches and resorts. She said she has wanted to always try social nudity but her husband was reluctant. She said after our conversation she had some ammo to help her to convince him.

In Ireland, it's one of those topics that people don't tend to think about all that often. So, when it comes up people are usually ignorant of it but also a little curious. More often than not, the reason it comes in conversation is because of free the nipple or they heard of somebody else doing or saying something related to it.

Most of the time I won't open by telling them that I am a nudist but if they ask me why I know about I'll tell them.

There are afew friends at the gym that know that I am a nudist and sometimes ask questionsthatI am happy to answer. Unfortunately, none of them has expressed any interest in becoming one.

I was at an afternoon social gathering of a group of people where I knew only one other. I overheard a conversation behind me and 'nudism' was mentioned. I turned around and waited for an opening, then introduced myself. Turned out that there were 4 out of about 20 others there. That conversation got me an invitation to go diving in Cancun. Go figure. Unfortunately cash was an issue at the time, but it shows that you can never tell.
