Music and nudity
Hopefully this wont give away the impression that Im trying to take control of the group or overblowning it, and maybe this new topic doesnt really fit in this particular group, but since were all talking about movies and television, two areas of what we can call popular culture, I cant stop thinking the way some music not only shows some nudity, through music videos, but also how some particular songs and their videos, even if not showing full front and back nudity, can actually encourage us, the listeners, to actually start getting a bit more comfortable and dispose of our clothes. I have been having these thoughts since I listened to a song written and performerd by the american artist Banks, called Brain - link below

When I was going through some of the comments, I realized that some people wrote things like: "this songs puts me in the mood" or "this is such a stripper song", a bit over the top ... maybe, but they did leave me wondering: does music encourage nudity ?
I agree, I mean, some songs just make us feel so comfortable in our own skins, they can sort of transport us to a certain state of mind, where we just dont seem to feel all those barriers imposed by our daily lives. I particularly like the artist whose song I posted in the first post, because she sounds so sensual, so self assured, but never cheap or vulgar, if only more artists could be like her :)
there are any number of songs with nudity mentioned in the lyrics. One that comes to mind is " wearing nothing but a smile"I am very bad at name that tune but lyrics do stick in my head. What other song lyrics can you all think of that mention baring all in the lyrics?
Glad you asked that question because after I thought about creating this post, I did think about several songs that in one way or another, sort of make us think about getting comfortable in our skin, whether through their lyrics or simply because of the way they sound.
Here are two fine examples (hope all of you can listen/watch them):

The reason why I picked these two songs is because theyre overtly sensual, but again, theyre not explicit nor raunchy, but actually quite classy.
As for what has been mentioned here, about literature and the way we can create inside our heads, images of total or partial nudity, because of some of the descriptions we can find in several books and its funny because now everything has become too explicity - think Fifty Shades of Grey (which is not literature) and when one reads book written in far more conservative times such as the 1920s, 30s or 40s, we can see how nudity and sex were presented in pretty interesting, alluring way.
The music video for "Night Swimming" by R.E.M. contains an prolonged, underwater, fully nude swimming sequence on the DVD, but not in any online version. There is a part in the music video (on the DVD) where the music stops and we just hear underwater sounds for about 30 seconds with images of the boy and girl (man and woman) swimming naked underwater, including some very clear images of breasts and the man's penis. Sadly, no online version contains this.
It's a beautiful, artistic expression that captures the sense of fun, danger, sensuality and nostalgia in slipping off in secret for a night skinny dip.
I confess, I am not a fan of R.E.M.s music, but their videos are awesome.
Here is a link to an online version. No nudity, but you can still clearly understand that the point is they are swimming nude.

On the DVD the nude sequence begins around 3:08, as one of them (the boy I think) kicks off his underwear. Then the music stops and they swim nude and sensual for a few minutes, even groping underwater.... it's beautiful and evocative. But like I said, not in this version.
I also remember a video by a spanish singer/actor called Miguel Bos, that surprisingly enough, can be found online and one doesnt even need to be an adulto to see it (strange, actually). The name of the song is, I think "Down With Love" and it was very controversial because the main protagonist is a renowned porn actor, called Nacho Vidal, and throughout the video we can see everything and by everything ... I really do mean everything.
Just checked it out here: https://vimeo.com/29208207
Yes, that is video that does in deed feature extensive nudity, both male and female, partial and full frontal, but all shown in an interesting and artistic way. It's quite photographically beautiful. Thanks for sharing that.
