Happy New Year!

And a happy one it is. Yesterday section 30.07 of the Texas Criminal Code which legalizes open carry went into effect. Today I carried openly in public for the first time since 1970 in Viet Nam. I don't intend to make a practice of it as I would rather have my sidearm come as a surprise when needed rather than make me the first target of any potential assailant. Still, though, today I was traveling and in the car it is much more convenient to have the pistol in a holster outside the shirt than tucked away somewhere concealed. I made two gas stops and didn't excite much interest at either one. Drove from Texas to Nebraska and was able to legally carry through all 4 states, although the sidearm had to go concealed before passing from Oklahoma into Kansas.
Texas is a big state and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is significantly less infringed than it was at the end of 2015.
