Recent Trip
Hi folks.Looks like no one has posted in awhile and since we just returned on Tuesday, January 12, thought I'd provide a few updates. We were at Club O for 2 weeks. As many of you know, virtually all the beach front restaurants from Pedro's north to the KonTiki have been torn down. The new structures are up and complete, but the utilizes are not connected, thus, none of the establishments that are supposed to occupy the new buildings are open.Be warned, the ocean comes, the ocean goes. The width of the beach, from Papagayo's to the Perch is the narrowest I have seen it in 15 years, with room for only about 2 rows of chairs. North of the Perch to Pedro's, there is only room for one row of chairs.Otherwise, the island was great, new restaurants in Grand Case and Orient Village and the Christmas winds were not too bad. All in all, a great two weeks.R and S
We were there last Summer, from the end of July to mid-August.. We
stayed on the Dutch side for 10 days, driving to Club Orient beach
every day, the at Club Orient, for our last week there. There was
enough beach at Club Orient for 3 rows of chairs, close to Papagayo
and less towards Pedro's. At that time, most of the
shacks and buildings had been torn down and being
removed. We had not been since 2012,
so it was nice to get back and enjoy the beach, as we have been
doing since 1994, missing only a few years.
Looking forward to this summer, again, in
July/August.p.s. that is my better half's picture on the group page.
We spent two days at Club Orient in December, doing two December
big ship cruises, both with St Martin stops. One of those days five
cruise ships were in harbor so beach was lined three deep with
people and lounges. Second day, ours was the only ship so
only half of the beach umbrellas were in use. We still love
those St Martin visits.
