Using TN in a public place
If you're talking about public wifi / internet like a coffee shop or library, you're usually presented with a "terms of use" that you must click to acknowledge that you agree with before you can access any other pages. This usually involves agreeing to not access any sites that contain pornography or nudity. Even if someone's not looking over your shoulder, their routers are capturing information on what sites you visit or even blocking some known sites that you might try to before you can access them. And if you're using their computers your browser history, including images, are being saved to the device. (This is how computers normally work and not software spying on you.) So unless you're a hacker (or 10 year old kid) they can retrieve the evidence if you claim you didn't access such sites.
I often use TN in public places, but as I'm more interested in the forums than the gallery I never have a problem.
Same here. In addition, I open a VPN connection to our home network so anyone eavesdropping on the public network can't capture the traffic, which is a good idea no matter what websites you are visiting.
It seems no one is actually reading or answering the Original
question. They are not asking about legal terms on the usage of
wifi or if someone might actually see what sites you are going to,
they are asking if it is acceptable in the vent others might see
what they are looking at.
In my view, using being on TN in a public place is okay if you are
Deseret and avoid the pictures. Discussions are fine as most
people if they see anything will just note you have a bunch of text
on the screen. If hey do notice the logo at the top they will
most likely shrug it off or if they do say something it is either
an opportunity to open someone's eyes to nudism or if they are real
idiots about it just apologize and shut it down.
As for those concerned about people monitoring what sites you are
going to etc. REALLY? Some of my work in the past involved
gathering/tracking.information. What you are doing is all
noise that no one ever sees or cares about. What is cared
about is what someone being investigated is doing. If someone
WANs sites blocked that's easy enough to block from their network.
The legal agreement is there and is valid but is really only
enforced if there is a problem. The responses I see here teas to me like typical paranoia.
My take on the public WiFi terms that you agree to are mostly to
exonerate the owner from any shenanigans that you commit. They do
not want to be implicated as an accomplice.
I am a seasonal camper at a campground on Stroudsburg, PA, USA.
They have WiFi that appears to block any site that contains "nude"
in the URL. I usually use a Verizon Jetpack to get online.
I commuted by bus and train for 25 years and would read whatever I
wanted. Like was previously stated, just text gathered no
responses.
What did get responses was a hat I bought in Pennsylvania that said
Virginia may be for lovers, but Pennsylvania has
Intercourse. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intercourse,_Pennsylvania

Same here, on my cell phone, ... I'll respond to messages or accept or deny friend requests but don't like using my phone to answer questions or respond to forum posts.
If I'm on the tablet and I'm visiting TN and there's a possibility of nude pictures showing up on the screen, I ensure that my back is against a wall where no one can look over my shoulder to see what I'm looking at. I usually do this for any all sites I visit. It's none of their business and I don't give them the opportunity to look at what I'm looking at.
If, for any reason, I'm in a position or place where it's remotely possible for this to happen, I just wait til I get home and on the desk top to visit the site. It's not that important to me to have to visit while out in public or someplace where I can't have some privacy.
Is it acceptable to use TN in a public place? With people potentially looking over your shoulder at the screen of nude people, is it acceptable?
If I were looking over your shoulder, it would be perfectly acceptable as far as I'm concerned. If someone else were looking, then maybe... and maybe not.
I rarely log on publicly to any website but last month while traveling I had some time to kill in the Hong Kong airport before my flight. There were computers with full size screens for free use. I checked my email and FB, then decided to see if Truenudist would make it thru whatever filter might be set. Wala it popped up. I had forgotten how much skin is shown as you log in. To me nothing offensive but I did try to stand close to the screen while i got past the log in page. NO one was near by and no one made any commentI checked my groups and messages and logged off. I will keep in mind the front screen the next place i log on in public
