Not exactly through, more like near. My father had the "roto rooter" job for prostate cancer. That apparently was literally through.
Update: I was given the option of being given a relaxation drug or stay fully awake. I wanted to know what was going on so I opted for none. While in the initial prep a couple of nurses noticed and commented on my tan. I had been working on it the 3 days before and said I had not been anywhere but my private backyard. . The prep nurse told me she would keep my covered while she shaved my groin. I told her not to worry about any modesty. I did have to keep from giggling , the razor and her touch were tickling. Dr. Chilly ( a nickname derived from his full Indian name) poked two holes in my groin and inserted the probe up to my heart. I could feel nothing but the pressure on my groin the doc applied to keep me from bleeding out. While in there he discovered some blockage and told me he would fix it on the spot by inserting a stent. He ended up doing two stents . During down time the doc and I chatted about travels in his home country of India
A couple of hours after the surgery a nurse pulled out the 4" long tubes at the holes. Then she applied pressure for 20 min to make sure it clotted up. We chatted travel then too.
They kept me overnight for observation and at 9am the next morn the heart PN nurse who had been in the procedure room came into my room chatting travel . She checked my ankles for swelling while compared travel stories. Then said " well I will go get your paperwork so we can release you" I asked her if she needed to check anything else. She agreed yes, but our travel chat had distracted her and gave my groin area a good look see, all looked well.
She gave me list of instructions and restrictions . No heavy lifting, showers ok , soaking and swimming no. She added dry and airy is good and said that tighty whities need special attention. I mentioned that i have gone commando for decades and generally go nude around home. She agreed that is a good for healing. I had also noticed she had no rings on her fingers and so I told her I would like to continue our travel chat outside of the hospital. She gave me her number!
