Return to DiscussionsI am sure there are many of us who enjoy being naked but do find limitations to going nude outside as a result of living in a suburb where houses are close together and where there is a lot of overlook into backyards. I am one of these people and while there are limitations, it can also be very exhilarating. We have a backyard pool and being in and around the pool naked is such a great experience. I do have to pick my times carefully to make sure the neighbors have the blinds on their second floor windows closed (they often do but not always) and that our one neighbor with young kids is not home. Even then, there is always a chance that someone will see me if they happen to open their blinds (and I am sure this has happened as I have noticed that sometimes some blinds are open where they were previously closed while I was out naked) - this is what makes it so exiting and exhilarating. I do however, try to spend some time nude in our backyard in the summer to work on getting a full body tan when my wife is not home - she is not to crazy about me hanging around nude in the backyard because it is not as private as would be desirable for nude sunbathing. The other opportunity to be naked in the suburbs is late at night when almost everyone is sleeping and there is little activity on the streets. I take advantage of this suburban characteristic to go on long naked night walks around my neighborhood, walking down streets, through parks and along paths. I would typically head out at about 2 or 2:30 and walk around for up to an hour and half - the longest distance I have gone is about 5 km. I will leave the house nude and be barefoot to get that full nude sensation. It is an absolutely wonderful feeling being out and about without a stitch of clothing, including being bare foot . While I am constantly scanning my environment for others who might be out and watching out for the odd car when I am walking naked down a road, I have found that very few people are around and you are pretty free wandering around enjoying being nude in the night air. I have however been spotted a couple times and this gives you a real rush and is what adds to the exhilaration. I would love to hear how other suburban nudists maximize time being nude outside in the suburbs given the limitations imposed by our suburban environments.
I live in a similar situation, but there is too much activity to try anything nude. I do go camping, and I go during the week, so I have the area mostly to myself. I am nude most of the time, and enjoy nude walks several times during the day.
We live on the edge of a town in the country, but with development now have another house behind us that can see into the yard in a couple of places, my wife is wary about me being seen too, the tress we planted are growing, but slowly. There is one vacant site left, our trees there are better established to cut the wind out and there are few double storey houses around, they are not popular so I hope the trend continues. We lived in the city about 18 years ago and I used to sometimes go on a late night walk naked around my immediate area, the first time I did it was a dare from my wife, we had both been drinking. The other times however I just decided to do it, I did not go far, just around the local area but I do recall the exhilarating feeling. I don't think I would do that now and not where I live as there is less anonymity where I am, I know lots more people here.
Although I live in a developed area, I'm fortunate to have barely used hiking trails nearby. I go for a naked hike almost every day for a couple of hours. I always carry my shorts with me just in case I have to cover up quickly. A few times however I did stash my shorts by the trailhead so I can hike hands free. It was exhilarating and scary to think if I did run into someone I had nothing to cover up with.

Hi, I am lucky enough to be able to nudist in my backyard, I have only one neighbor (not a 2 story house) and I have a 15 foot high hedge with a fence that keeps my privacy, so in the summer I love to be naked as often as possible ....
Very similar situation here. My back yard is visible from 2 neighboring homes. The younger couple who live behind us are in the habit of using their pool while nude so I don't worry about them seeing me. After months of trying to avoid being seen by the widow who lives next door I got caught flat footed and bare one day when she was out by the fence. I beat a hasty retreat then went over later on to apologize. She pretty much told me she didn't care what I did in my own yard but would appreciate my discretion on Sunday afternoons when her grandkids were there for dinner. She has seen me countless times since then but has never shown any particular interest.
If it is late at night I sometimes take out the trash or recycling nude but otherwise I have to leave the house for someplace remote if I want to go nude outdoors.
We've always lived in apartments and homes in the suburbs. We've purchased 3 tracts homes since early in our marriage. We are currently in our last, I hope. I'd prefer living on property where my neighbors are not as close as 16' apart but currently, we only have one next door neighbor. We do have 2 story homes surrounding us but we've taken precautions to not be seen. Heavy landscaping provides us with almost 100% privacy. If they want to see us, they have to do some real neck stretching or climbing up on their roof!
Our next door neighbors have seen us and have said nothing. We've had other neighbors see us and when I apologized, they said, to us, the same thing OldFrog said his neighbor told him. I think because we are such good neighbors; keep up our property, look out for theirs when they are gone, and are not blatant about our nudity, they have a "live and let live" attitude with us and our lifestyle.
My home is in a large residential suburb with a busy neighborhood. There are a few rentals on the street and several people that go to and from work during the night. Before they moved in, I was able to walk around the block or neighborhood nude without problem. Now the HOA has added a roving night security which also creates difficulty. I am in between 2 two story homes so initially that caused some concern. This home was a fix-up and required a lot of back yard attention. So during the early summer mornings I was in the yard doing things. I knew that both neighbors had seen me nude so the first chance I had I mentioned to them that we were often nude in the yard. Both said all was ok. The one had their toddlers window upstairs but they had already blocked it. We agreed that if we saw it unblocked we would be careful. Smartest conversations and results..
I also added drop-down shades which block outside view and a couple of cheap-yard umbrellas to cover difficult spots. So now I know anyone trying to look in would have a difficult time.
We built on a lot that I carefully picked out. No two story houses, and none allowed. Ours was the first one on the block built. I raised the backyard walls to over 7 ft. As houses were built around me, I invited the people in and showed them our pool and landscaping which I always turned into a discussion about skinny dipping and our nudity in the yard. They all said they had no problem with that, it's our yard. Since, they have all seen me nude, either in the yard while they were on a ladder, or coming to the door when I was by the pool and it didn't bother any of them. One even joined me for cocktails, me nude and him clothed. I found it was much better to discuss my nudity with them, rather than be surprised.
