First time at a nudist resort

Return to Discussions

Last weekend was my first visit to a nudist resort. I met a TN friend there who showed me around and shared his tent with me. I didn't know exactly what to expect but it was better than I could have imagined. Everyone was friendly and accepting. It was very welcoming and free of any anxiety. One of the best experiences of my life. I can't wait to go to another nudist resort. Thank you, Crossfire.

RE:First time at a nudist resort

Growing up on Long Island near the beaches, I remember walking along the surf's edge when I suddenly realized I had entered a nude section of the beach. I was in my very early 20s at the time. I felt embarrassed at first yet curious to want to experience it. I meandered my way towards the back section of the beach near the dunes and removed my suit. It felt exciting and wonderful at the same time. I was hooked. I returned to that section of beach many times.

Several years later, after I was married and had moved away from the beaches to a rural section of upstate New York, I started researching nudist clubs in the area. My first visit was to one in Candor, NY. It was owned and operated by an older married couple. They were very friendly and showed me around the entire campground. I returned there many times over the next few years, making some good friends there, too. Unfortunately, the owners sold the campground and the new owners did not want it to be clothing optional anymore. Some of my nudist friends there began telling me of other places in the area where I could enjoy nude subathing, although those spots were not nudist camps, just areas where nudists were known to hang out. I continue to go there whenever possible.

My next trip to a nudist resort was in West Virginia. I fell in love with the place and have returned there many times.
I am also a mobile DJ with my own company. There were several times where the resort asked me to DJ some of their events. It was a great time. I hope to return again soon. It was interesting to host a Mardi Gras dance party there and issue beads when all of the guests were already naked, but I still made it fun.

I was informed by some of my nudist friends of a nudist camp near my house. I had never known about it before but decided to give it a try. I contacted the owners for information and directions and enjoyed my visits there. These people have become good friends. They host nudist events all-year long, including a cardboard boat regatta. When the weather is cold, they use their house for their events, often with a dish-to-pass meal involved.

Nudist clubs and campgrounds are not what many people think they are. They are fun and relaxing places to just be yourself at.
Having always struggled with weight issues, I have found that nudists are very accepting and non-judgemental of others.
Nudists come in all shapes and sizes. Everyone is always made to feel welcomed.

I have been fortunate with my experiences. I've made some great friends along the way. I have even hosted many nudist gatherings in my own home with these friends. Being a DJ, most of the gatherings usually turned into dance parties. During some of the quieter gatherings, we would just enjoy playing board games, drinking coffee or wines or other adult beverages. Regardless of the events, everyone was always respectful of each other and had a good time.

Nice to hear your experience at resorts has been positive, whereas I've been discouraged and prejudiced against coming as a single male. Their focus on demographics over behavior troubles me. I imagine it has something to do with the amount of local nudist public venues, both sanctioned and unofficial, available. Here in the Midwest there are none without the risk of drones and fines. Maybe that makes the resorts feel that short of being a large land owner, they have a monopoly on outdoor nudity. As resorts vary and nudism is more a regional niche thing, enjoy what you can especially while the weather is great!

Could you give us the name of the resort? Good resorts deserve good publicity.

As a single male, I also have been discouraged from attending two of the local resorts. I was finally able to get to visit one of them, thanks to being an AANR member, and after camping for three days, (it was early in the week, and after Labor day so the resort was mostly empty) was encouraged to come back again by the front desk staff when I was checking out. While at the resort, I was greeted warmly and made to feel at home by everyone I met.

I've been to resorts in Pennsylvania and Tennessee, exchanged emails and phone calls with the owners before my visit, and greeted warmly when I arrived to check in. I don't know if it's a regional thing or just specific to certain resorts.

Either way, glad you had a good time!

The unfortunate part, however, is that because I am married, if I want to come back my wife has to come with me, and she has assured me that will never happen. But I have great memories of my first, and maybe only, time at a nudist resort!

I'm rather sadden when I read or hear about guys that want to go to resorts and be nude but places have rules that married guys can't be there alone. I know that resorts set their 'rules' but why turn away an individual because of their status of been married. Plus, they loose business that way. The resort we belong to has no rules like that, a married guy can come as many times alone as he wants, and even join as a member (single rate). Additionally we don't have any rules of X amount of guys alone. before we say no more for the day. It's never been an issue of just a sea of males and hardly any females. But we are a resort that is NOT clothing optional, one must be nude in the public areas,

Take off ya ring dummy!

Not that easy to do, most times when you take the ring off, you can still see the wedding band marking on finger.

And for some people like me who have gained weight, the ring won't come off.
Plus if you lie on the application, it could cause more trouble.
