Camping thoughts
Return to DiscussionsThanks for the feedback. We like Shangri-la, but they have a very poor area for tent camping.We would like some place maybe toward Payson perhaps, in the forest. Privacy for us and friends is best. Facilities not neccessary. Clothes not wanted at all...lol Any Ideas?

Last time I tent camped up that way, I just turned off the road and drove up the mountain as far as I could. No particular place, but if I were to do it again I would get GPS coordinates.
Years ago, on a scout trip, we found a road that ran parallel to the rim (at the top). I'd love to find that road again, but I have no idea where it is. Other than off one of the main highways. It was up, up up the highway and a left turn on a dirt road. It led to a beautiful look out from the top edge of the rim.
