Australian Naked Hikers
With Australia been such a big place, and most of the Naturist Locations been towards the coast, This group has been started to fill the Gap in Inland areas. Once we get numbers up I will try and organize Day Hikes, Overnight Hikes, and possibly even Week Long Hikes. As well as possible visits to beaches and resorts once the club is a bit bigger.

Return to DiscussionsNaturismRE has been running the Australian Decency & Public Nudity Clarification petition because Australia's laws concerning public nudity and decency can vary considerably between jurisdictions and use concepts such as offensive, indecent or obscene conduct.
The campaign is not asking for unrestricted public nudity.
We are asking a simpler question:
Should Australian law more clearly distinguish non-sexual nudity from sexual, threatening, harassing, exploitative or otherwise harmful conduct?
We have not stopped at creating a petition.
NRE has been contacting Australian parliamentarians and presenting the case for legislative clarity. We are now receiving responses.
Senator Malcolm Roberts' office requested our draft legislative proposal and supporting evidence. We have since provided a comprehensive submission package covering the proposed framework, Australian legislation, safeguards, evidence and constitutional pathways.
Senator Jordon Steele-John's office shared our correspondence with its policy adviser for review. Following that review, we were advised to approach the Commonwealth Attorney-General's office to explore possible Federal support, oversight or collaboration between State and Territory legislation.
Senator Leah Blyth provided procedural guidance and recommended engagement with parliamentarians who could assist with legislative sponsorship or further parliamentary discussions.
Senator Jane Hume's office passed our correspondence to the Senator and acknowledged our comments regarding legislative certainty and regulatory clarity.
Senator Jacqui Lambie's office directed attention toward State representatives and the NSW Attorney-General while also identifying federal representatives as a possible avenue for broader national discussion.
Senator Susan McDonald's office acknowledged issues including legislative clarity, safeguards and individual choice and advised that our correspondence would be brought to the Senator and her advisers.
Senator Charlotte Walker and Senator Glenn Sterle's office separately recognised the importance of clear and appropriately enforced laws, public safety and protections against harmful conduct, while noting State and Territory responsibility.
Not everyone agrees.
Senator Whiteaker declined the opportunity to support the proposal. No reason was provided and no substantive position on the Framework was expressed. We respect that decision and believe in reporting the responses transparently.
None of these responses should be interpreted as parliamentary endorsement unless explicitly stated. What they demonstrate is that the issue is being put before decision-makers and pathways for further consideration are emerging.
