Other boated
Return to DiscussionsNot often. But I've run across a situation when several small boats were anchored off a beach within sight of each other, someone stripped off and the next boat over noticed. Then they stripped off and the next boat noticed and down the line it went.
I've also seen someone on a boat strip off and the boat next door left! It depends on the location. Some beaches get a reputation for nude use and some do not.
We ran into another boat that beached on Lake Powell with about 6-8 people on board and everyone was nude playing corn hole. It was an awesome sight. Nudity on the lake is common but it is courteous to keep a significant distance between watercrafts. You can tell guys are shirtless, but if they are bottomless you can't tell. You can tell that a lot of women our topless tho!!
Unfortunately, I rarely if ever see other boaters nude on the boat or beach. We boat on the Upper Chesapeake Bay. If more people did it, it would become more normalized. The problem is for sure the prospect of getting in trouble with the law.
Over the years I have seen a few nude boaters at Lake Powell and several nude swimmers or sunbathers. A couple of times I have had boats or jet skis swing in towards my campsite and see me nude and then swerve away. But once, the boat beached on a nearby island and they started diving & swimming nude.
I have at a couple of raft ups, here on the Chesapeake Bay, and have met many people who say they drive naked, as I do, but I havent seen anyone so far. The DNR is pretty active around Annapolis so people are less like to strip off in that area.
I hope to see a couple of TN boaters this summer in the Wye river, maybe raft up.
