I put this group together to find out what beaches around the world are fun to go to in case people are traveling and wondering what a particular beach is like.

Anyone ever go with textile friends?

Half say, "Oh no, I could never do something like that," and the other half say, "Sure, I'd give it a shot."
I've found that textiles generally seem more open to trying it out on a nude beach rather than a nude resort. There's still this perception among them that resorts are "nudist colonies," and the beach is less of a commitment somehow.
I'm hoping to make it up to Gunnison this summer, and a couple of textile friends (who have never been socially nude) have expressed interest in coming along. Have any of you ever convinced textile friends try going nude on a clothing-optional beach? How did it go? Was it fun, or was it awkward?

Interesting question !I've the same general feeling here in France. People are generally open to nudity, but that's "not for them". I've been a few times to the beach with clothed friends, they did not care if I were nude, but they kept their trunk... (both males and females) :-(I use to share my vacation (nude) picture with almost everyone who asks ;-) and this is not a big dealLast year we spent a long time in our fav resort, Euronat (a must see!). A couple of (straight) friends first told us they would join to test social nudity, but they finally abandoned that project. I was quite disappointed... That's life anyway !
I have several experiences in this regard, but I not sure if most of them would really apply. You be the judge.
I have been to several clothing optional beaches with girlfriends before I was married back in college, where I went nude and they kept their bikinis on. I don't know if this counts because usually we had already seen each other naked before so it was not a big deal, at least to me. A couple of times we would double date to clothing optional beaches where the guys, myself included, would go nude and the girls remained in their swimming suits, but it was not a big deal either as that is what everyone was doing anyway. Also, now that I am married and my wife does not want to participate in the nudity, we have gone to clothing optional resorts and beaches but she always remains at least in a full swimming suit while out of the room.
The only time that really addresses the situation I think you are asking about was when I went to a clothing optional beach with a colleague who said she wanted to "experience it" or "it was on her bucket list" but she did not have the confidence in her own body to undress. She said it was fine with her if I undressed since I had told her before hand that I participated in the style so to speak, so I did. She did not make a big deal out of it and I did not care, so it was not awkward. As far as I know, she never discussed it with anyone, probably did but I am pretty open about my naked habit and I don't care who knows.
A couple times (twice) I have run into girls, who remained textiled, I knew at clothing optional runs but I did not go there with them.
These days, generally no. I nearly always have a nudist friend accompany me to the beach. Quite often we might be the only ones in the nude. My very first visit to a nudist beach was in Brighton many years ago. I went with my wife and her best friend. They both stayed dressed as I stripped naked. I remember the friend making a remark. She was shocked to see me naked for the first time. I have also sunbathed naked next to my textile sister. She was quite curious about her younger brother, observing me closely.
When I go to the nude beach nearby I always go alone. My wife is not into it. Sometimes I'm meeting friends from here there. I have seen quite a few couples there that one would be nude and not the other, mostly the male but not always. Sometimes the women just take a little longer to get nude like wearing the bottoms for a bit. I myself would be naked n the parking lot if it was allowed. Just can't wait to shed the textiles and really hate putting them back on to leave.
Took a textile gal to a remote beach on Oahu. Within minutes of me dropping trou, she was topless. Within minutes more, she was sky clad. Seemed fully natural to her. Many people just need to give it a try. When they catch the vision, there's no going back.
I've been to both nude beaches and clubs with textile friends. Overall I think the textiles have felt less pressure to be nude from the outset at the beaches as others have said here. A couple of clubs have had open days for those interested in trying out social nudity, we've gone a few times with friends who knew we love the nudist way of life and wanted to experience it where they felt they'd feel more comfortable, an environment with experienced nudists, not a public place where there might have been more clothed people. These friends were genuinely looking to try social nudity, they'd all tried it on a small scale with us at our homes. Most of our close textile friends know we're nudists and are at ease with our preference to remain naked when they visit us, there's quite often a mix of nude and clothed friends here. They'd seen how comfortable and relaxed we are in mixed situations and wanted to try larger scale social nudity, they've all gone on to spend more time nude with others. They went with a positive attitude, however we've seen others visiting these open days who'd maybe gone on their own or been less sure of their desire to try nudism, some didn't appear to get naked at all. I remember a few people at a nudist club open weekend who didn't seem to venture nude beyond their tent or caravan. It was a very friendly club, the event was backed by the national association, there were lots of activities but no pressure to participate, I guess they just weren't ready to try wider scale social nudism.
A female friend of a nudist friend regularly accompanies her to our local beach, I don't remember her ever wearing less than her bikini while the group of up to maybe 30 we're with are all nude. She simply doesn't feel comfortable being naked in public but enjoys the company and place, it works fine for all. Other textile friends have accompanied us there to try nudity with us, some followed our example and were naked as soon as we got there, others didn't take long to do the same, one couple took maybe 30 mins to be nude, that was the longest. We enjoy long nude beach walks, the newcomers tend to wear or carry wraps when trying this for the first few times though most have the same attitude as us now, to enjoy the freedoms of nudism without worrying about needing security blankets. They've all made return visits, one couple now spend a lot of time with us as they love social nudity so much, often remarking that we should have convinced them to try it much earlier.
I can think of several nudist friends who've brought new partners to the beach, most have embraced nudism, of both genders. Its really good to see newcomers appreciating why social nudity is a wonderful way to live.

We too have always been very open about being nudists. We find many textile friends wilk try our hot tub first and we put exptra power on the blower of air to make that bathing suit blow up and look ridiculous. We have converted many. Most 2 on 2 in the hot tub but beaches they are more willing to come to and eventualy get naked. The resorts near us not optional and must be naked. When we go to the Caribbean and Mexico to clothing optional Resorts, we find it is quite easy to convert them to naked loving friends. LOL
Yes I have a few times. Only once did a friend undress and she got naked before I did. The others I think went to just look and never undressed. Most seemed surprised I undressed while they where there but I wasn't going to waste the trip there.
I have gone a few times with textile friends. My first time
was with a male co-worker who was married and I was single.
One day when we were talking about beaches, I mentioned a few
that were nude beaches that he knew were nude beaches. He
asked me if I go to the nude beaches often and I said that I did
and enjoy and prefer them over textile beaches. He said that
he and his wife had been curious about going to one. I told
him that I am planning on going this week and asked him if he would
like to come along with me, and he quickly and happily accepted my
invitation.The officially clothing optional beach was
always mostly nude and required a short trekk across a textile
beach to get to the clothing optional beach which was out of sight
from the textile beach.
When we arrived, I was greeted by several of my nude beach friends
who were regulars like me. This made my friend feel more
comfortable as everyone looked out for one another and were very
friendly like a small community accepting of everyone. After
setting up our space around my friends, I immediately got naked as
my friend sat on his towel taking in the experience. I told
him to relax and do what you feel comfortable with as there were a
few clothed people around the beach. Within about 30 minutes
of us lying around, my other friends were going around recruiting
people for a volleyball game since this beach always had a
volleyball court setup. I accepted as did my friend and a
clothing optional game ensued. Most of the players were nude
with a few textiles. When our team was done, we retired to
our area and watched the other games. My friend then took of
his suite and went nude for the rest of the time. I took him
around as we visited with my other nude beach regular friends there
and they visited with us. He totally loved the experience and
asked me if I minded if he brings his wife next time I go.The
following week my co-worker friend, his wife, and I went to the
nude beach. I could tell she was was giddy nervous with
anticipation and said that she had always wanted to visit a nude
beach. As I relayed my years of visiting nude/clothes
optional beaches, she started feeling more at ease especially when
I told her about the community feeling of this particular beach and
that you are never feel pressured to go nude.
When we arrived, we setup in the same area as I usually did when
visiting that particular beach. I was greeted by my friends
who welcomed the newcomers and invited us over to eat with them
later. My friends wife was impressed how nice everyone was.
When we got the area, I was very hot as it was a very hot and
humid day. I immediately got naked before setting up which
initially surprised the couple. I noticed their reaction and
joked with them and said that I did not mean to shock you and
we all laughed. We all went in the water once we were
set up and then layed out on our towels. The couple was still
clothed in their wet bathing suites. I said it is really way
more comfortable swimming nude and sunbathing nude rather than in a
wet bathing suite. She then took of her top and he pulled
down his trunks low on his hips. I guess he was looking for
permission from his wife to get naked. I then left the couple
to go play volleyball and give them some alone time to adjust.
They watched me play volleyball and then I noticed them
laying on the towels nude. One of my friends went over to
them to recruit them into the game as I motioned for them to come
over. We all played and enjoyed a terrific nude day at the
beach and went together for the rest of the season.
On one of the visits, I invited a female textile friend who knew I
was a nudist. When she accompanied us, we all kind of sat
around awkwardly with our bathing suites on after we had set up our
area. I guess even a seasoned nudist can feel a bit funny the
first time they are naked in public in front of a textile friend.
Some of my nude beach friends next to us mentioned that they
have never seen me with a bathing suite on for so long and did not
recognize me. We all chuckled and made introductions.
One of my nude beach friends was a beautiful dark skinned
blonde woman whom I was very friendly with. She came over
nude and sat among us on our large beach blanket. My textile
friend exchanged compliments with her. I then took of my
bathing suite and felt a sense of relief once I was naked.
With the unknowing help of my nude beach friend, we all then
eventually got naked and had a great time as my nude beach friends
pulled their blankets over and formed a big hanging out area with
us. It was a great time and we all went to the beach several
other times together. This eventually led my once textile
female friend to tell her best friend about me whom I also took the
bnude beach with me and would later become my wife.
