I put this group together to find out what beaches around the world are fun to go to in case people are traveling and wondering what a particular beach is like.

Return to DiscussionsMine is Gunnison Beach in New Jersey. The beach is beautiful ( in the spring, summer and fall anyway).The people are friendly. I have been going there for the past 3 years and have met a lot of friends there. On the weekends the place is full. There are 5,000 to 10,000 people there every weekend.There is a group of us that play Volleyball every weekend together for fun. I'm looking forward to going to the beach soon. The weather is finally starting to look like beach time again.
I haven't been to that many nude beaches, so I don't have much to compare too, but I greatly enjoyed our stay at the Grand Lido resort in Negril. We asked for a room with a view of the nude beach, and we were given a room that practically opens up directly on the beach. Right outside our back door was the beach, a clothing-optional swimming pool, a hot tub, a bar, and a snack bar. In the morning they would set up breakfast on the sidewalk right outside our room. We could sunbathe on the beach, go for a stroll, or relax on our patio, all in the nude. At sunrise or sunset is was possible to get a massage on a table placed right in the water, but we never did that. We did have a couples hot stone massage, and liked it so much we did it again. Near the beach there is also a sauna and a steambath. The food at the resort was delicious, and the staff was very nice. Someday I hope to go back to that resort, and I hope I can get the same room.
Will Rogers once said I never met a man I didnt like. As for me Ive never been on a nude beach I didnt like. Every one was unique but always pleasant.
Two favorites come to mind; Little Makena Beach on Maui and Punta Serena on the Pacific side of Mexico. Little Beach was about twenty miles from our hotel but so nice we spent two of our seven days there. To reach the nude side it is necessary to climb over a lava flow. My much younger wife took a look at the climb and elected to stay on the textile side both days. Her loss. The beach was very pretty, the water perfect and was well populated with friendly people. Food and drinks are available in the parking area but anything you need on the beach will have to be carried over the flow. For more info Google, Friends of Little Beach.
Punta Serena is one of the most beautiful beaches Ive seen, anywhere. Great for photography be it nudes or scenics. Except for one couple, I had the beach to myself. Could it be the 105 steps up and down? I counted them.

I try to get to Lighthouse Beach (part of the Fire Island National Seashore) on LI at least 2-3 times a summer. It's a beautiful, official C-O beach, just a short drive from NYC. I like Gunnison, as well, but don't get out there as much (especially with the bridge construction this summer!).
Zavial beach in the South West corner of Portugal. It is never overcrowded, has clean, soft sand. warm sea and is backed by cliffs and open countryside. And there is a cafe/bar at the textile end. Last year I was there in April, July, Agust, November and December. I skinnydipped there on Christmas day. Then I used the photo on Facebook.
Absolutely it has to be Little Beach on Maui. For many years I would spend spring and fall on Maui and you'd find me on Little Beach almost every day. It's my favorite not only for beauty (you can't beat the views) but also for it's social aspect. It's a great place to get to know locals as well as the visitors since people freely mingle and if you're there for awhile you'll get to know the regulars. There are also great hiking trails that lead off from the far side of the beach. You can leave your clothes on the beach and hike nude up through a wooded area which leads to a dramatic cliff with views to die for. You can also hike up to a small cave if you take a different direction.
