over 50- still working out-
Return to DiscussionsI try to workout every day, although life sometimes gets in the way and have been doing so for more than 35 years. During the summer I either run or ride my bike. During the winter, I run when roads are clear of snow or row on my ERG. I try to lift weights in my basement once or twice per week (nude). It's not about how I look(my looks are as good as they are going to be, which isn't much), it's about how I feel and I always feel better for having worked out. I have no plans to stop.
I am 49 and still workingout. I believe it is very important for me to keep lifting weights. I hope to bench press 300 pounds before I turn 50 in November 2015. I am almost at 200 now. I just got back into lifting weights in October since I had heart surgery in June.
I don't "work out" in the accepted sense. Instead, I keep myself busy, now that I am retired, particularly in the warmer months by gardening and DIY projects. However, I do have a pair of small dumbbells that I use for simple exercises for about 10 minutes before I go in the shower. In the winter I usually gain a couple of pounds, but I quickly lose them. I would to hate to let myself go to fat like I see some guys have. I have too much respect for my body than to fill it with junk. I do like a few drinks in the evening, but not enough to get drunk. If you "listen" to your body it will tell you what's good and what you don't need. Enjoy life....nude whenever possible!

Whether or not someone has the genetics to develop into what they perceive to be a physique of ideal proportions, working out is good for the soul and psych! It is how one feels after the workout that can heighten confidence and sense of accomplishment, regardless of their gene pool. To be one's healthy best is all that can be expected.
Yep. Just started back with yoga after a year of resting a tweaked knee and really feels good to work out. Taking baby steps.
I have crossed 70 last November. I used to run regularly and had participated in the Delhi Half Marathon runs, but on the advice of my doctors, now I am walking regularly every day. That keeps me reasonably healthy. I believe everyone should workout to keep fit for the lifestyle one chooses.
