Most are fake profiles who did not delete their accounts.

I have been frustrated by the same thing. There's a lot of inactive profiles on this site. Most if not all of the profiles featured on the main page are inactive. They can certainly do better with purging old inactive profiles and promoting their site to get new members. I'm not sure this website is written very well.
TN does need to purge the inactive profiles, it is frustrating when looking at profiles and seeing what you may have in common with the person or if the live close to you! Then you read that person hasn't been on in years!! It's like this in a group I belong to the moderator hasn't been logged in since 2011 and we can't get uploaded pictures approved!!! TN says we can't start another group either!!

Sadly, some profiles are from people who have died. I knew a couple of wonderful, young women who had cancer and suddenly stopped posting and joining in on chat. My only guess is that they died and never deleted their profile first.
Occasionally, I go through my friends list and delete profiles who haven't logged on in 2 years. I think that would be a reasonable time frame for the owners of the site to use as a benchmark.
I also think 2 years is a good benchmark for deleting profiles, but lets play fair, lol. and have a profile put into a sleeper folder for those not logged in between 12 and 24 months, that way TN can cover all their bases and keeping it's active members and happy.
This thread reminded me of a couple of things ... 1) to go through my friends list and clean it out a bit and 2) the reason why owners of a site, such as this, are very hesitant about deleting profiles. I may be wrong but I've heard other site owners talk about this so some of it must be true.
When someone goes to sell a site, one of the selling points is member numbers because member numbers relate to $$$; the more members, the more money the site must be making. The hopeis allowing free members, so they will become paid members.It's a gamble and that is why they provide a chat room, cam chat and a gallery, along with messaging and such. This entices mostly men to join to finally get into areas that are not available for the free members. The more paid members, the more the owners make monthly/annually and when they go to sell the site, those members numbers are what will entice a buyer to pay more for the site.
This is what I've been told, read and overheard while at nude venues. Does anyone have any better info?

So very sad. I had a good friend and co-worker who died of a blood clot during routine surgery, and it turns out he was a member of this site. What's crazy is I didn't even know he was a nudist while he was alive; we never ran into each other at a beach or resort apparently. I found his profile on here and it made me break down crying. I feel that, out of respect for the deceased they should at least freeze accounts that haven't been logged into for a year, and only have the profile reappear after the user logs in.
