Beer Drinkers Nudists

We like to be naked, and we like beer, so let's share our naked beer moments with all the rest of beer loving nudists. Get nude, take a beer and tell everybody you're having one of such special moments. At the beach, at the resort, while camping, or at home; but always in the nude! Cheers

Favorite Stouts and Porters

Return to Discussions

I'd like to share some of my favorite stouts and porters. I hope others will add some, too, because I love sampling new beers, and the darker they are, the happier I usually am.
I was in a restaurant on a business trip last week in Chicago, and asked the waiter if he had any dark beers to recommend. He said he only had the Dragon's Milk, a bourbon barrel stout. I happily said I would take it. It wasn't until after I ordered that I found it on the menu listed for $14.50 a bottle (22 oz). Ouch. So you only live once.
When it came, he poured the first tall glass from it. Dark, dark, with a tan head. Lots of aroma. Tastes of chocolate and oak and bourbon, and a pleasant sweetness. Very balanced. Very rich.
It was exactly the kind of beer that I don't get tired of as I get to the bottom of the bottle. The second and last glass was just as good as the first. It's the kind of beer you want to hold in your mouth and get all the flavors from, and it's just so rich.
I checked the New Holland Brewing website, and this beer isn't available anywhere within hundreds of miles of Portland, OR. Sad. On the other hand, I'm back in Chicago this week, and I found a bottle shop where I bought two four-packs of 12 ouncers. This beer's too good not to share. Store price: $14 for a four-pack. A steal.
I sit naked in my hotel room tonight, sipping one slowly.
Oh.
Yes.
It's as good as I remember.

Hi Bevans and all, I did spell it wrong (no surprize!) it's Xingu black beer. It is named after a river in the Brazilian rain forest. They have a web site.

I have not had Xingu, but am always on the lookout for good new (to me) beers. Thanks!

Tonight I had the chance to enjoy a bottle of Evil Twin Brewing's Yin, an imperial stout. It has very strong flavors of chocolate and roasted malts, with a definite bitterness. It's a rich and full beer. As the glass warmed a little (I started on it too soon out of the cooler), the bitterness was balanced by a very pleasant sweetness. This is one nice beer. Very similar to the Victory Storm King and the Bell's Expedition Stouts, also both quite excellent.

I'm naked and drinking a Bell's Expedition Stout in a hotel room. What an amazingly awesome beer. Nicely bitter and complex. I keep coming back to this one. It's out of season right now, but I found a couple of six packs left over. It's one of my favorites.

I've tried roughly 50 different stouts over timefrom all over the world (thanks mostlyto a Total Wine store located 7 miles from me), and my hands down favorite is OLD RASPUTIN RUSSIAN IMPERIAL STOUT out of northern California. My # 2 would probably be Storm King Imperial Stout out of Pennsylvania.

While in Chicago you should try to find some Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. If you can find any of the variants they are well worth it. There are few better. Also, swing over to north west Indiana to Munster and visit Three Floyds. They brew some GREAT beers.

For a good imperial stout, try the one from the Valley Forge Brewing Co. Rich flavor and smooth. For a good Irish style stout, I like Saranac Brewing Co. (F. X. Mat brewing) from Utica. Almost like drinking Guiness. Sadly, they do not sell their stout in bottles except for their trail mix pack (not a big seller for them - pity). Most of it gets used for their Black & Tan (also excellent). A good porter is made by Yeungling - nice on a crisp day.
