I gave some English bitter to a German couple yesterday.. He said he had found something similar in Germany and she asked for another pint. The reason I asked is that I haven't found anything vaguely like English bitter elsewhere in Europe. Their beer is much lighter like Lager and some of the famous export Australian beers. And Irish beer is different again. Confusing Bitter with these would be like confusing coffee with tea or hot chocolate.
