BBC - Good or Bad

Return to Discussions

This has been a topic of discussion lately and Im curious how others feel. I find the term BBC or Big Black Cock highly offensive. I would like to know if its a me problem. Over the past few years, its come up more and more. Others see it as a compliment by saying it, I personally see it as an insult. With that simple term, I am now transformed into a fetish or sex object. What are your thoughts?

RE:BBC - Good or Bad

As with any term that one uses to define another, it can be quite offensive. If you are seen for the size of your penis rather than as a person who has a personality and is able to contribute to the betterment of society, then while the person who says it may intend to be complimentary, the result becomes an insult. It is much the say way, if we see a women for just her body, or just a part of her body, then we have missed the opportunity to get to know someone who may be an awesome person. Stay nude and keep the fight. We are not just our penis.

I fully agree with this post - right on! And thanks for that.

I'm not sure if this post is too old to respond to, but I don't use the BBC term, except for television/radio. Not to mention, I don't know a Black man who says "cock", so that shows the concept/term is white-generated. I was with a guy that insisted I talk about his BBC...which threw a wrench in that situation. I've had people assume I was friends or dating a Black man for his BBC. It diminishes a real thing into something cartoonish. And I've been approached by guys offering me BBC. I mean, it's nice if it's nice, but It just reducing things to something lesser, and even as a compliment, it's reductive.

The term can be Reductive and offensive to a person that doesnt want to be know for one body part.

I think the term has porn roots. Marketing people using it to describe the type of sex in the video. Saying Average Sized Cock or Breast would not attract as many viewers as BBC or Busty. Now some men use it to describe themselves when trolling for partners.

Its roots are in the racist history of the US and the use of slaves as fighters and breeder for more slaves. A recent new report addressed the surge in usage associated with racist "plantation" porn which the repost says has been increasing in popularity recently. Likely in alignment with the rise of white supremist themes in mainstream society.

I'm not a fan as a racialized man... but. I have had one hookup with a Black man who really wanted me to use the term. I expressed that it made me uncomfortable and why and he explained why it was important to him and we decided to go with that. I'm still not into it but sometimes listening to your partner especially when that person is the object of a given stereotype is important too. That doesn't mean it's right for anyone else and my view is that if you're not Black you shouldn't ever lead with this kind of objectification for the reasons you give.

Porn is the ultimate objectification and yes, the reductions of racialized men, Black men especially is egregious in most porn. As others have shared the stereotype runs hot and deep with pop culture "ironically" (Tarantino's movie begs us to disbelieve the deliberate racism of it's entire reason for existing and we're expected to buy that). I would disagree with you on one point... if we don't market ourselves as stereotypes but rather promote our business and selves and the craft and art of it (which can be as simple as a masturbation video) what's sexy ceases to be the exclusive domain of the so called winners of the unattainable game that's body perfection and body fascism. After all the majority is average and if the majority cannot be sexy then we are well and truly fked. And in the least appealing way. I got to work with many porn stars in the 90's and 2000's (no nothing like that) and aside from most being super nice guys they're also mostly super insecure and not at all confident in their looks and size. Believe it or not. They're affected by this objectification most of all. My view is as a partner my job is to make him FEEL like he's all that because if I can't get that authentic connection to him and show him my appreciation then why the hell do I deserve his time? My view on penis appreciation is that you should never be reductive but expansive... make the pleasure about the whole man. Grow it through him and with him. But that's just me. Not everyone is going to agree or want that.

Yeah, I always construe that term to be "some sort of breeding machine" or "solely for providing enjoyment to others". It's not a term that will go away, but it seems to denote some sort of "freakishness" or "magical power" and dehumanizes the individual. We are all more than the sum of our genitals!

Exactly and its a way for other races to fetishize and objectify black men

Fetishizing.

We are not a monolith and some Black men are into that.

I'm not though. If you're a non-Black (or can pass for something other than Black) person, gain consent first before using terms that can obviously be received as offensive.

If I'm interacting with someone and they refer to me or my body as "big, black..." whatever. I'm not turned on. I'm not into it.

You're fetishizing my identity.
