Social Nudist Event Geared towards people of color and the people that love them
Return to DiscussionsAfter reading some post in this group it seems that people of color may need a group or gathering that bridges the gaps of indifference. So with that said I pose these questions to the group and ALL its members.
What types of activities would you as a nudist of color like to be involved in?
If you are not a nudist of color what things would you suggest to nudist establishments that havea low (if any) guests of color attendance to draw some diversity?
To answer my own questions. One I would like to be involved in and see more nudist people of color involved in more nudists sport activities maybe a nude kickball team. Maybe some of the childhood games that black folks are accustom to.Who'd be interested?
Second question astwo black nudist that attend some Florida Nudist Resorts, nudist social events, and nude beacheswe'd suggest more groups likeTHIS ONEplanning outings as a group to these place to see for yourself how things are. To some of the resortswe would suggest maybe some events that are geared for mutual enjoyment... Maybe like a nude spades game night.. Or wider selections of music that all can enjoy.

For me I simply enjoy everyday activities where it's legal and socially acceptable to be naked, especially in the company of likeminded nudists.
But I don't need an event / establishment to be "geared towards people of color". When I hear that description I invision various aspects (e.g.; music, food, entertainment, activities, etc.) that are the stereotypical perceptions of what people of color enjoy. I think any event / establishment should simply make an effort to offer a wide variety to attract a diverse group, including people of color.
It's a catch-22 that people of color may not patronize establishments because they don't see other people of color and thus conclude that people of color aren't a target audience of the establishments. The establishments presume that if people of color don't show up in mass from a small amount of effort, or if there are a few people of color, that no further effort is needed.
First thanks for your input. Not sure if you read me correctly. I'm speaking from a marketing stand point. I'm also asking only to gauge the population of nudist of color interest in nude activities. For example my partner andI have a array of interests that allow us to enjoy a multitude of nudist activities from nude art to nude in nature and so on.
The point of my post was and still is inclusion. This is a group for people of color that all are welcome to join from my understanding soI pose the questions to the group.Its great you don't require a nude event to be geared towards your likes, but lets face it some people do need a reason other than to be nude to break into social nudism. I pose my question to start a dialogue on what kind of nude activities in this groups demographic(be it black or other)would people be interested in.
No it is not the resorts job to gear events to one specific group, nor was I saying that. I just question if there was a Soul Music Festival(for example) at a resort would the number of people of color go up maybe just maybe exposing peoplethat would otherwise remain home nudist toreally one to come out and reap all the benefits of a Nudist Lifestyle.
So please my fellow nudist lets not make every post a public relations issue...sometimes its only to get a good possibly productive conversation going.. You never know maybe someone will see your H.O.N idea and make it happen.....

I think you may be on to something I think if the lead reach of the event was something like music r+b soul, jazz blues and the event was clothing optional then you might be able to introduce folks to the practice in a less intimidating way. With more of us around to show it was not weird and something that we enjoyed in common that might just work.
We (people of color) can be funny at times so it is hard for me to think of larger events to attract us. As a local host to various gatherings, I'll have people show up for nude Superbowl parties, game or movie nights or anything nude event at a person's home. But when we try to solicit the same people to a nude picnic, nude bowling or to spend a little nude time at the Korean spa, they have no interest. I've even invited newcomers to view and possibly participate in the World Naked Bike Ride. No interest, not even to view it. They prefer to be at home or in a place that is not in view of the public. Those people of color who are sincere about this will come to events or try a nude yoga class. If they have the time and money, they will venture to a trip to a nude beach/resort. I've been at a lost to bring us together. There are those who choose not to be around "just us." They are more comfortable with the variety probably because that is what they are used to seeing.

Firstly let me say good on you for taking the initiative and
trying to put something together for the community where you feel there is a
need. I hope that people will support
whatever activities /events youre able to put together and hopefully this will
encourage other people of color to come out of their shells with respect to
being nude in public. As a few others have posted, some are new to social
nudism and for them, they need to take things slowly. A word to those who are home nudists and
thinking of taking the plunge, go for it I did much of my first forays into
social nudism alone and was the only person of colour in many events, but I didnt
let that deter me. I think activities such as music, film, food, sport, art,
nature, craft, gardening can all be forms of bringing people with common
interests together. The main obstacles
youll have to reassure newcomers about in my opinion will be 1. Nude doesnt
mean lewd, 2. Nakedness can be liberating, 3. We all come in all shapes and
sizes and that no one is expected to have a perfect body. 4. Everyone reacts
differently to being nude in public and particularly for men, reassure
regarding the fear/potential embarrassment of becoming aroused. I know for me
those were all concerns I had when I first got involved with naturism and over
the years Ive seen those same concerns come up time and again and when I can I
always reassure a newcomer and educate them.
The biggest fear of all is just taking that first step of stripping off
once you do it youll realize it really wasnt such a big deal at all.
I think once those concerns are addressed you may find it
easier to get people involved, I would even venture to say how about starting
off small with something like a naturist potluck and movie night. You can get people to dabble in a small
comfortable environment and help them to take the next step J
@NewdinFl, I do agree with a lot of what you said, they are
good points but equally those activities could be the catalyst for bringing
people together and introducing others something new.
Overall I think it would be nice to see more people of color
engaging in naturism/nudism as its wonderful, and Ive met some really amazing
people since Ive become a naturist.
People want to see us and want us to participate but we have to remove
the stigma attached to being naked in public.

I think the key might be to bill as clothing optional not naturist or nudist that way people can ease into it. And as I said having some non nudist draw like a concert and then optional to do other nude things like swim etc.Just my two cents.
I know I am chiming in two years late, but I don't think it's too late for something to happen. My wife and I often discuss nude events targeted to people of color. Just a few thoughts of mine:
- Most black women are not in to "roughing it" at a camp site. So a resort like Paradise Lakes or beach Haulover may be more ideal.
- Second, make sure that is open to all body types since we are about acceptance. BBWs should feel welcomed, better yet wanted there.
- The focus should not be on sex or swingers. Though this may be a by-product of the event, it should not be the focus.
- Activities that are friendly to all be it a party, cookouts, social hour, board and card games, any other activities that you all are aware of.
- BYOB is always in order
- Limit the number of "single" guys. Unfortunately, the mood changes when the men outnumber the women and brothers will get protective of the woman they brought if a single guy gets out of line.
- Maybe an orientation for new people/couples.
- Early summer event, before it's too hot or early fall.
- Somewhere in south that is easy to get to for out of towners by plane or car(Tampa, Orlando, ATL, Miami)
Hello.
I am happy to read "and people that love them" in your title. I go to Gunnison Beach; sometimes alone or with a special black friend. When we're there together we always have something to talk and laugh about. Sometimes we meet new people on the beach and chat with them. Last year on the weekend after Labor Day we got involved with a conversation with maybe 12-15 people and it was one of the best days we had at the beach. We will be looking for them again this year and I hope we are smart enough to meet together in someone's home during the non-beach weather months.

I read and commented on this topic 3 months ago. I just skimmed through the comment and found those who are interested mostly live in different locations. I noted a couple living in FL. Can I suggest post something simple like the game of spades with other nudist and purposely invite men of different races for a fun evening. If one is organized in NJ, NYC or Philadelphia I'd be happy to attend. A daytime activity would be best for me

I don't really think it's about the events, more than a cultural up bringing. I have been to both nude beaches and nude resorts and have seen people of color there but of course not a lot. Here's the group, let's set some dates to meet at the beach or a resort and I'm sure more people of color will come. What I do agree is that the music can be more diverse. I'll also bring a deck of cards as I love to talk smack while playing spades, lol.
