I am an old tried and true boxer wearer! Have been wearing them since I was 12! (56 years of my life)
A few times, Ive tried on a pair briefs, bikinis, thongs, and even boxer briefs, but much prefer boxers! From about 15-16, I wore Jockey brand slim-guy tapered boxers. They had really cool colors and white banded trim around the legs and side. In my mid 30s, and after my dad passed I was clearing out his belongings, I took all of his yoke fronts and wore them until they were thread bare. In my 40s, and even now I wear button front French tab back boxers! Years ago I saw them at Brooks Brothers in a display case, bought 2 pair and in a few weeks went back and purchased more! Unfortunately they are no longer in production
My intrigue with and for boxer shorts started in January 1966! I was 12 and in 7th grade, we had returned from Christmas break. I was gym class, we were sitting on the bleachers waiting for the bell to ring. My gym teacher was cute and only 22! He was asking what everyone got for Christmas, we were sharing and one boy asked him what he got, he listed a few things plus boxer shorts. One kid in class said you wear boxer shorts? And my gym teacher replied Im a man, I wear mens underwear not little boys underwear like you little boys wear! Well, I wanted to be a man! My dad wore yoke front boxers so for the next several days I would go in his dresser drawer and look at his boxers! Finally, one day I decided to try on a pair! I took a pair from his drawer, took them into the bathroom , and tried them on! They were a neat blue, red, and silver print on a white background. I dont know if got hard or not. I took them off, folded them and put them back in his drawer. I did that several times over the next few days. Then one day I decided I wanted to put my pants on over them and see what it felt like having them on under my khakis. Then I decided, I wanted to know what it felt like to wear them all day! One Saturday, I took them from his drawer, put them on, put my jeans on over them and wore them all day! I went on a bike ride with some friends, and kept thinking about my secret I was a man, wearing mens underwear, not wearing little boys underwear like them! That night, I decided to wear them under my pajama bottoms and sleep in them! I dont remember how long I wore them on Sunday or if I wore them under my slacks to church. ( I think I did) I did put them back in Daddys drawer. Now the pair I wore were a pair that he didnt like. They had elastic completely around the waist, and he wore yoke front boxers that had about 2 inches of elastic at each side. But still, Mom and Daddy had to know I had worn them, they had to be wrinkled, but neither said anything to me about it! After that, from time to time, I would take Them out of the drawer and wear them. Over the summer of 1966, we moved and I started a new school for my 8 th grade year. In gym class, there were 3 guys who wore boxers! It renewed my interest, so I went to my dads drawer, but the pair I wore was gone! I kind of panicked, so then took a pair from the laundry basket and wore them after school.
One day I came home from school, I had been wearing my whitie tighties, and I had a rash in my crotch! I told my parents and they wanted to see if. I removed my trousers, pulled back the leg band of my underwear. My dad said the elastic might be too tight and rubbing against my crotch. He told me to go shower, put some ointment on the rash and just wear my pajama bottoms. He then said maybe we should get you some underwear like mine! That was it! That was my chance to come out of the laundry basket and wear boxer shorts! While we were having dinner, I said maybe I should start wearing underwear like his and asked if he would buy some for me! The next evening he took me to a local department store. He told the salesman That we needed some boxer shorts for me. The salesman said I would probably prefer briefs! My heart sunk, I thought I was going to leave with a package of briefs, but my dad said no, we want boxers! I left with two 3 packs of Munsingwear boxers, all in white! Monday I started wearing boxer shorts to school! Like I said, Ive tried other styles but always go back to full cut boxers!
