This group is for those that likes to hike naked, and to possible meet other like-minded people to hike Naked in California. Please be careful as some places do not allow nude hiking. As always proceed with caution. I always suggest have your shorts handy just incase you encounter textiles, especially parents with children.

Return to DiscussionsFor a real hike with a great destination, Deep Creek is definitely the place to go.
For somewhere you can go for a pleasant stroll in the outdoors, I like to go up to Lake Castaic.
There is a service road off of Lake Hughes Road I go to when I have a few hours of spare time (which does not happen as often as I would like)
Unlike Deep Creek, this is not a recognized clothing optional area so caution is required.
That said, even on the weekends very few people go there.
I would say that, over the years, on 95% of my hikes I have been the only one there.
It used to be that if I saw someone else on the trail I would cover up. But after a couple of encounters where I did not have time to cover and the people who saw me did not have a problem with my nudity, my default is to stay nude unless they object.
Since making that decision, I have had many encounters with clothed hikers. There reactions have been everything from looking away and moving to the far side of the trail to one couple who stopped and we talked for several minutes.
I even had an encounter with 3 Los Angeles County Sheriffs deputies. To make a long story short, they were there responding to a call of people illegally camping in the area. They asked for my ID which they did run, but there only comment about me being nude was to be careful and keep an eye out for other hikers.
There are plenty of places to hike remotely nude. But you always have that feeling of alertness that counteracts that relaxing feeling i am looking for. I think deep creek is the safest most accepted public nude hiking place. But my most relaxing was at a resort with trails because I left my clothes behind and had no concerns of running into people. Then I could walk naked to the shower area and rinse off and drink a beer after my hike. That was the most relaxing.
