I have a sit on top kayak and I have it set up for fishing and I love it. I have been thinking about getting a Ultimate Native with the peddle system for my next one if I can ever get the money for it.

fisher i also looked at the ultimate native and was very impress but was defeated by the price, i ran into someone fishing fromone a while back and he love it and it was really rigged nice. i like the sit on and may invest in one in the future as i see some grat deals on them.

New Sea Kayak

I bought myself a new sea Kayak in november. Its a Wilderness systems Zyhper. great boat. I had it out for a couple days before it got cold. I think it won't allow for quite as much sun exposure, when I'm nude, but I'll enjoy it all the same, plus it'll letme get on over to that private island or section of the beach where no one else is around all the faster. can hardly wait for some slightly warmer weather to get it on the lakes or ocean

randall sound like a great choice, kayaks are great for escaping and yes they move fast. when warm weather comes i plan to see howw mine does on larger lakes, the lake i go to now only has one small cove but i would like to explore a few islands out in the larger lake. may spring come soon for all us yakers and canuders.

one interesting point i see and may be helpful to others considering a kayak and age may be a issue, yes we are all not in our 20's. when i finally picked out my kayak it was a old town 10 vapor a sit in with a large cockpit on the floor at the store it is easy to get in and out of but in the water its a little harder for someone 50+ so for those older yakers you may consider a sit on over a sit in or before you buy maybe rent or borrow both types before making that final purchase. also before buying the paddle very$$$ read up about what length you need as it depends on width of kayak and some other factors. i'mk happy with my yak my next one will probably be a sit on though, oh on good thing about a sit in is if you are nude your a little less visable if someone passes by, a sit on you perched on top for everyone to see .

I have a Nativewatercraft Ultimate 12. It is a kayak/canoe hybird. The company calls it a kayak. It is like an open faced kayak. It sits low in the water but has no top. You sit in it. The hull has a hump in the midle (like a transmission hump), so it tracks very straight. I can set my tripod in it with two long legs in the hollows and the short leg in the middle. I can grip the tripod with my knees if the water gets a little rough. I push the tripod forward to paddle and pull it back to shoot. It has sockets for rod holders. I have every thing green or camoflaged for better wildlife photography. I also fashioned a safety flag for better visability when I am in populated waters. I can haul it in a full bed pickup. AS you can see, it is stable enough to carefully stand in.

One of our illustrious members has lost several cellphonesto the water. Ihave discovered that a Coleman wide mouth insultated jug makes a wonderful watersafe. I put my wallet, car keys, cellphone, lake map, etc in it and screw down the lid. It is watertight, floats and has a nice handle that you can thread tiedown cords through. It is also rugged enough to allow it to be tossed around with damage to the contents.

lilstones cooler idea is great but the other day i found a waterproof plastic case for cellphones and small cameras in the camping supply section at wally world 5 bucks and its smaller than the cooler and if you ever run into me on the water i have very little with me, a tee shirt, bathing suit, small collapsible cooler, and sometimes a fishing pole. wallet, shorts anything else is left in vehicle. i will still get a cooler as a backup but have you noticed most are red and my yak is blue, yes i like to be color coordinated.
