Dodge Journey Battery

Return to Discussions

Im extremely perplexed wondering how engineers at Dodge/Chrysler developed an engine and engine bay for 2015 Dodge Journey forgetting all together to make room for the car battery!!!
It is located between the driver side front wheel arch and headlights of all places! We have to remove the front wheel and the cladding in order to reach it. The battery tray is made of thin corrosion prone steel which in my case totally disintegrated due to its location. My car is fully oiled yearly against rust and is like a new car as we need MOT certification yearly. The battery was hanging by its cables!!!! The terminals on the other hand are well placed on drivers side just below windshield where the battery should be. I was very fortunate not to have head an electrical fire or sn explosion had the battery fallen off while driving and the wheel running over it.
Do any of view have the same location in your MOPAR vehicles?

RE:Dodge Journey Battery

I feel your pain. From 93-2004 I worked in the service department of a Dodge dealership. The Intrepid & Chrysler were built the same way. In snow states corrosion was a big problem. I never bought a Chrysler or Dodge while working there. I got real close to trying a Magnum in 04 but they layed me off before I made the deal. Meh, I own a 2019 Acura MDX. The most trouble free car of my life.
