Return to DiscussionsI have a favorite place to walk and once in a while in warm weather, in the morning on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, I will take the primitive trail. This trail is usually only walked on weekends. It is easy to see whether anyone has recently walked the trail by observing the freshness of the footprints in the earth. Anyway, at a certain point I strip down and put all of my clothing in a bag and carry it while I enjoy the sunlight on my skin. Once in a great while, if the ground is dry, I may go to the end of the trail and then skirt the woods until I join up with the main trail. I'll walk that until I get to the crossover and go back to the original trail which I will follow to my 'getting dressed' point and then walk back to my car. This is about a two mile walk.
One day I had just entered the main trail when a man on a bicycle came up. He stopped and we talked for a few minutes. I didn't attempt to hide or cover myself and he didn't look down. At the end of our conversation he said, "just be careful, there are a lot of Republicans in the area, you don't want to get caught." And then he rode off.
I always look far ahead and stop to look around when I am walking. In six years I have never met anyone else on the trail on my nude walks. But I wish there were nude trails in the area.
As someone who has visited AANR resorts across the U.S. - many in 'red-states' - I feel qualified to comment on this topic. Most of the nudist resorts in the U.S. that I have visited are in rural areas (for obvious reasons). I have overheard several poolside conversations and can easily tell by the subject and viewpoints expressed which way the speaker leans politically. I can confidently attest that affinity for nudism has no political affiliation.
