Nude weekend camping near Chicago?

Return to Discussions

It's cold and snowy out, but I can still look forward to some nude time outside. I have a goal: spend 36 hours (Friday night to Sunday morning) in nature without textile interference. Any suggestions on where to camp? I find the nudist camps (as well as many of the state campgrounds) a bit contrived and limiting, and prefer to be off grid, even if it means bringing water and a shovel and leaving no trace. Too many people and cornfields near Chicago! If anyone knows of any hidden gems (public or private), I'm interested in learning more.

Brilliant idea. There has to be somewhere out there.

My suggestion would be Toadally Natural Gardens...Its very rustic, but very nice. Its a couple hour drive from Chicago (closer to Madison, actually), but it not very crowded. I've been to closer resorts and I've found them too crowded and noisy...

Cedar Hills Campground just south of Sauk City, WI and close to
Mazo Beach has become clothing optional campground. Sits up on a
ridge with some nice views and is almost 70% gay folks with
permanent camper sites. The tenting section tends to be
rather quiet and there are toilets and a shower
house.

I have to agree about Cedar Hills. I've spent many a night there and have always had a pleasant stay. A few things to keep in mind are mosquitoes can become quite a problem if its during a wet period and most weekends in the summer the campground is rather full. Naturally holiday weekends are 100% full and usually a very "happy" crowd, but during the week you could have the whole place to your self. Some of the best camping I've ever had is during the week in the fall. No people and no bugs. The owner also will provide the firewood and even deliver to your camp sight and the views from the top of the bluffs are spectacular.
