Return to DiscussionsYesterday, my wife and I went to a large county park on Floridas gulf coast. She wore a bikini (blue tropical flowers on white) and I wore my green and red (for Christmas) topical floral thong. Again, I wore the thong between the parking and our spot on the beach. We passed and waved to the ranger as he was returning on his rounds, having turned around at the dead end. The rangers are fine with the skimpiest of swimwear, but do not approve of full nudity. We made our camp midway between a guy and a younger couple. Since the ranger had just been through, no one was nude. The only people I was concerned about nudity was the couple. I had never checked with a female or couple before about getting naked and was on the fence yesterday. Once we got everything set up, I saw the woman had removed her top. The guy wore a brief. I walked to the shore, and keeping my back to the sunbathers removed my thong before entering the water. Another guy removed his, maybe because he had seen me. As I was leaving the water nude, I went to thank him for joining me, and then returned to my wife. I was not hiding my nudity from the couple, figuring they had probably seen it there before. I remained nude except when a few textiles walked by, then either put a towel over my lap or kept my legs closed. When the couple left they greeted us. Their pleasant greeting and small chit-chat indicated they easily accepted my nudity.
I often visit a remote beach which is quite long and gets occasional nude use. This beach used to get a lot of nude use, but about 10 years it began to be patrolled quite often. The last few years the patrols have diminished, however the nude use is substantially less now. To keep someone from getting overly excited and thereby potentially putting the beach on patrol status again I will sometimes ask couples or women that walk the shoreline if they mind if I am nude on the beach. I have had mixed responses over the years, most have no problem but do not get naked themselves., although a few have gotten naked further down the beach. There are some I can tell before they even pass that they are not receptive, so I just stay covered and don't ask.

Like you wrote, you often get a feeling about how others will react to nudity on the beach. Many making the effort to go to a secluded beach are looking for the opportunity to be naked and are happy to see someone set the tone.
FLSmoothy, You know the beach and the vibe there. Never busy, but sometimes just enough people hanging out naked. Hope you are enjoying your winter stomping grounds. Maybe see you next summer.
Thanks Art. One clue about the people walking on these secluded beaches is whether or not they are lugging beach gear. If no gear, they textiles on a walk. If gear, they usually know the lay of the land regarding swimwear on that stretch of beach.
