To the West, the Foothills south of Boulder rise in silent grandeur. To the east the plains gently slope down to the Platte River valley, on the far Horizon Denver's downtown Skyline is faintly visible through the afternoon haze.

I'm halfway through a 3-mile hike in celebration of of national nude day, I've stopped in the shade to write a brief post about what a privilege it is to live in an area that so easily allows me to take advantage of being naked in the Sun. I'm in an area that I've often hiked before and have written several posts about and I'm thoroughly enjoying the peace and solitude of National Nude Day. The raucous colors seen earlier in the year have given way to a more muted summer light brown. May and June's Iris have long ago gone to seed and withered. Sometimes I identify a little too much with that phenomenon. Today however I'm enjoying the fresh scent of ponderosa pine wafting through the air, a mostly clear blue Colorado Sky, and a very sunny day.

As I write, I was just treated to the beautiful sight of a hummingbird in it's search for nectar. Earlier I watched two turkey vultures soar on the days thermals. While not nearly as pretty as hummingbirds, they certainly have their place in Nature's world and their skill at Soaring is second to none.

Sitting here naked in the shade, I am reminded how truly wonderful it is to be outside sans clothes. The feel of the sun and the wind, the scents in the air, the sounds resonating through the countryside, all make me feel both extremely alive and at peace all at the same time.

I truly hope that any and everyone who might read this post has had the same opportunity to enjoy National Nude Day. It's too bad there are not more areas where one can experience such bliss without the fear of harassment.
