Newer Artists vs. Older Artists
Return to DiscussionsFrom the Older Artists, saw the show about Patsy Cline. Was she something else! But Marissa Lambert, of the newer artists, is pretty awesome. My first country concert, I think, was the Oak Ridge boys, more than 40 years ago. Some real classics there. A bit different, but Florida-Georgia Line have a great sound. More recently, I have seen Darius Rucker, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban. I have not yet been to any of the multi-day extravaganzas, but I hope to go one of these days. Which venue do you think is the most exciting. I have kids living in Houston, so I thought I might try the Rodeo one year, they have great performers over several weeks. Truth be told, and as I nudist I have to tell the naked truth, I have never heard a bad country artist! So, do you prefer the sound of the old Opry, or the newer sound of the Reyman Auditorium?
For me, 80 and 90s country is my preference. I work in audio production and in my area of Texas the bands pretty much play the golden and outlaw eras of music so in my opinion have wore them out. Groups like Restless Heart, Blackhawk, Ricochet, Little Texas etc. have put out some great tunes. Much better than todays computer generated nonsense. Not too wild about the "Hick Hop". But I'm sure the previous generations have said same thing. Just my $.02 worth.
