Safe to Fly into Central Florida
Return to DiscussionsWe originally had a cruise from Sept 6 - 13 with two nights at the Cove pre-cruise. The cruise has since been cancelled, but we lengthened our Cove stay to three nights, followed by three nights at Lake Como, and finally three nights at Paradise Lakes. We figured since we already have flights down to Florida, we could have a nakation. Now Florida is starting to sound like the new New York. Anyone down there... what's the sense in the resort? Are cases being reported in the area around the Cove? How about in and around the airport (MCO)?
We've made backup plans for 4 nights on Labor Day weekend at our local nudist camp, and the idea of flying to Florida in the next 90 days or so don't inspire confidence. That probably means not flying down for Nude-a-palooza weekend in October, either. Even if they cancelled the concert, having a chance to extend the summer nudist season beyond what is comfortable here in New England makes the trip one to look forward to... but not this year.
Tampa here. We feel safe. Haven't seen any flesh-eating zombies nor folks dying in the streets around here.
We did transatlantic cruise 3/1-15 and were in Barcelona when Spain closed down. We were a little worried about getting back. Fortunately, our Las Ramblas hotel stayed open. Though the Spain/France road border was closed and flights stopped going, we got bullet train to Paris where we had planned to go. Our Paris hotel closed before our arrival but we got into a Marriott. Our AirCanada flight got cancelled but AirFrance honored our 1st class tickets for a repatriation flight. All is well and we never had a sniffle in the last three months.
Paradise Lakes openned for a couple days then closed as too much of their revenue comes from booze and Florida ordered bars closed again. I don't know about Lake Como. Caliente was open three weeks ago and quite a crowd was present. Most all the lounge chairs on the grounds were in use. Restaurant was open and serving. Last two Sundays we went to Island Club. Only 6-8 people were at Island each day but that club can't handle many people. Pool was nice. Cypress Cove is open but they're not renting rooms until end of July. Restaurant is open.
We have 4 days booked at the Cove in November. It is looking like it's going to be a rough winter. We are starting to make some winter weekend plans with nudist friends. Local places like the cape, and our lake house in NH. I am going with the assumption that the dinner - dance events this winter at Solair won't be happening. We're really going to miss those. Good luck!
This state needs to shut back down, but I think the theme parks are pushing the agenda more than they should. As for Cypress Cove, we haven't attempted to go there yet because we're just not quite sure it's safe. We have gone to Playalinda and Apollo Beach few times, but that's really spread out.
Up in Jax where i live I've seen a lot more people wearing masks ( of course it is mandated in Duval County where Jax and the beaches are). Have been dying to go back to Cypress Cove but probably won't be going until this thing is under wraps. Am thinking about going to the nude beaches where most people social distance anyway. Maybe for the July 30 Mars blastoff.
